How to Fight a Werewolf

Renesmee walked across the checkered kitchen floor, picking up the remnants of another shirt shredded to pieces. "You've got to be kidding me, Jake."

He looked at her with a sideways glance, silently challenging her to say something else. If she was going to start something with a tone and a snarky comment, then he was sure as hell going to finish it. They'd been married just over a year, and the peaceful newlywed bliss was starting to dissipate. As of late she'd been making comments - not enough to create a fight, but just enough to annoy him. It was time, Jacob figured, to let loose and blow off some steam. A fight would do them good. Imprinting or not, all couples had them. "I don't know what you're talking about Rey, what is it you're complaining about this time?"

"The same thing I've been asking you to stop doing for months, but you clearly don't care about the fact that it irritates me." She pointed to the muddy paw prints on the floor, surrounded by shards of what was once her favorite shirt on him. "I'm tired of cleaning up after you. I'm tired of asking you, and I'm tired of you not listening."

"Are you seriously going to make an issue our of a little dirt on the floor? And the shirt already had a hole in it, I was planning on throwing it out anyway. Who cares?"

Renesmee placed her mug down on the table with a forced sense of calm and stood up. "You just don't get it, do you? It's not about the dirt or the ripped clothes, although I'll admit that annoys me too." She exhaled, and struggled to keep her voice down. "It's about your total disregard for anything I ask you to do. I'm sure its fun for you to run around with the guys all day, but I can tell you right now it's not fun for me to sit here and clean up your mess, and to not hear a word from you all day until its time for dinner."

Jacob rolled his eyes and let out a snort. He was starting to get heated, and was moments away from walking out. He trembled with anger as he spoke. "You think its all fun and games protecting the tribe's land? That's the thanks we get for keeping you and your family safe? That's awesome Rey, I'm glad you appreciate everything I do for you."

"Well in that case, I'm glad you appreciate absolutely nothing I do for you."

That was it -the last straw. With a head shake, and a final look of disgust, Jacob walked across the kitchen and out the front door. Renesmee sank down into her chair, stunned and angered that he'd actually just walk out in the middle of their first fight. So much for making him see her side of things.

To her surprise, just moments later she saw Jacob reappear at the doorframe. With as much sarcasm as she could muster she asked, "Back so soon?"

With a crooked grin in her direction he retorted, "I didn't want to make another mess for you to have to clean up, I was just doing what you asked. No more muddy paw prints, I'll change outside from now on"

Renesmee's eyes widened. Did he actually listen to her for once?

"I'm sorry we had a fight. Still love me as much as you did before?" Jacob asked, already knowing the answer.

"You know, after all this time, it's still puppy love" she said with a smirk.
