Jeff looked across the room gorged with people swaying and jumping to the loud music. He wished desperately that someone would crank it even higher to drown out the sound of his own throbbing heart pulsing in his ears. His eyes were glued to the back of the new lead warbler, Nick, who was facing the DJ set up along the far wall. Jeff had yet to keep the boys attention for very long so far, only getting the casual "Good Morning" and "See ya next practice" after the warbler meetings they'd had since he'd started at Dalton. Yet, he couldn't deny the magnetic attraction he felt towards the other boy.

Jeff sighed and ran a hand through his soft blonde hair. He wanted to make a move, to finally walk up to Nick and make him see him, but he couldn't find his feet, or his courage for that matter. He needed to snap out of this. He was a Warbler, for goodness sake. He never got stage fright.

Slightly choking on the frog in his throat, Jeff made himself move. He found himself closer and closer with each step.. What was he going to say? Oh gosh, he should have rehearsed this. WHY WAS HIS HEART BEATING SO LOUDLY? Nick was right there. Literally two steps in front of him. All he had to do was reach out his hand and... Suddenly a small blonde girl rushed by Jeff, nearly knocking him over, and wrapped her arms around Nick. Jeff watched the boy smile at her with glowing affection in his eyes before leaning down to brush a kiss on her pink lips. Jeff's heart seemed to kick into overdrive as it shattered, beating so hard it pulsed in his fingers down to his toes.

As if he heard it, Nick cranked the music up a little louder.
