Title: She Likes Violets
Rating: T
Pairing: Mildred/Roy
Summary: The old west may have a rough time to live in, but it was nothing compared to picking out the perfect flowers.
Disclaimer: I do not own anyone or anything from R.I.P.D!
AN: I have never written for this fandom before, but I love the movie and so I figured I would give it a go. Roy and Mildred made the movie with there undefined relationship and so I figured why not write about one of my favorite couples since nobody else has yet. Maybe this will inspire other writers to expand on this fandom and pairing.
Sometimes I think that woman was created by the powers that be in order to drive me crazy. Perhaps she was my own personal hell, my punishment for the sins I may or may not have committed while alive. Our relationship had always been complex and just when we were on nearly even ground, she had to go and complicate it. She liked violets; that's what she had told me anyways. I should have known something was amiss because it was almost to easy.
When I think of violets I picture those little purple flowers. I had no idea how many variations of violets there actually were until I entered the flower shop and placed what I thought to be a rather simple order. The young lady behind the counter, I'd love to get a peak at her ankles, was quick to burst my bubble. Apparently violets came in many colors such as red, orange, dark purple, light purple, dark and light blue, white, and yellow. Some had different shades of one color while others had a boarder color. They came in bunches, some were big, others were small, and a few had very distinct scents. In my day if you gave a woman flowers it didn't matter what kind they happened to be.
As the young woman told me about the different kinds of violets they offered, I tried to figure out what Mildred would want. With her things were never simple. She wasn't like other woman and not due to the fact she was dead. Her thought process was unlike that of any other female dead or alive. Whatever I picked would end up being opposite of what she did and usually I would not bother with these games, yet she had gotten my hat back and that meant I had to do something nice and not screw it up.
"Just lasso me up one of each." I told the clerk quickly. "My old lady will have nothing to complain about this way."
After having paid for the flowers I headed back to the car. My Millie wouldn't win this time. After all these years I have finally evened the score. The look on her face as she was left speechless would be enough of a reward. Besides, I would never say it out loud for risk of being found out, but I was looking forward to seeing that not quite a smile of hers; I enjoyed nothing more on a woman than her smile, except for ankles of course.
END!
AN: Not the greatest one-shot I've ever written, though I suppose it could have been worse. I may write more for this fandom in the future though I have not decided yet. Also, I was tired and not feeling well so if you see mistakes then that is why.
Please R&R like always!
