Hate Me Today: Blue October
"Prentiss! Stop!" Hotch finally caught up to Emily and he gripped her arm and turned her to face him. "Will you stop for one minute please?" Hotch took a deep breath and almost backed down when he saw the glare she shot at him. "I know you may hate me today, but you have to know that I'm doing this for you…to keep you safe."
"I don't need you to keep me safe Hotch!" Emily snapped. "I am a big girl, I am fully capable of taking care of myself. You just didn't trust me enough to think I could do it on my own. If it was Morgan or Rossi or even Reid you would have let them go. But since it was me, nope I had to stay behind."
She snatched her arm out of his grasp and started to walk away again. This time Hotch ran in front of her to stop her movements. "Of course I trust you Emily. I would trust you with my life. I know you know that, but this was an extremely dangerous situation and I wasn't going to risk losing you. I care about you too much." He huffed.
"What?"
Hotch looked into Emily's eyes and he knew he had to tell her. "I care about you Emily. I wasn't going to let you go in and try to take down an UNSUB by yourself because something might have happened to you. I would never be able to forgive myself if something bad happened. I know somewhere deep down you know that what I'm saying is the truth. And you're right, if it was Morgan or someone else I would have let them go in because I'm not as concerned about them as I am about you."
Emily's eyes were beginning to sting. She blinked back the moisture and gave him a smile. "I think you like me."
"Funny Emily," Hotch blushed.
"I think you want me," she sang. "You want to kiss me."
And Hotch did. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into him. She gasped and he took advantage of her open mouth. The kiss was filled with desire and want. When they pulled apart Hotch brushed her hair behind her ear.
"Do you still hate me?" he questioned.
"Not even a little bit," she returned then wrapped her arms around his neck to bring him closer for another kiss.
