FAMILY
When they came back from Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, Spencer didn't even ask if Aaron wanted him home. He just poped into the car and waited for the older profiler to start driving.
They got to the Hotchner's residence about an hour later (Spencer insisted on buying some sandwiches on the way). Jessica was fast asleep on the living room couch.
"Hey" Aaron wishpered, "go to bed before we have to take you to a doctor."
"Oh, hey, guys." She answered, sleepy. Stumbling a little at first, she went to her room without saying another word.
Spencer followed her with her eyes until he was sure she wasn't going to roll down the stairs.
"I'm exhausted." Aaron admited, droping himself on the couch. "What happened to that family… it's such a pointless death."
"I know what you mean." Spencer said, taking out the sandwiches and the two cokes.
They ate in silence for about five minutes, Spencer sitting on the delicate coffe table. But he couldn't help notice the tension on Aaron's shoulders, so, before he had finished his second sandwich, he stood up, surrounded the couch and started giving him a massage. Aaron just smiled and kept eating, slowler now that he was been giving such a treatment.
"Daddy? Spence?" both men looked up to find Jack in his pijamas.
He had already went all the way down to the living room so they wouldn't be mad at him when he ran at them. Which he did, jumping on his father and hugging him like his life depended on it. Aaron hugged him back. Spencer, whose hands had stopping moving the second he heard Jack, bent down and hugged them both, as tight as possible giving his position. After a few moments like this, Jack slipped from the embrance to properly put his arms around Spencer's neck. The young profiler picked him up and hold him in his arms, all the while humming this song that he couldn't get out of his head.
While he felt Jack relaxed, obviously falling asleep, he glanced at Aaron.
"Does this song bother you?" he asked in a hush, stroking Jack's hair lovingly.
"Not at all. It's a beautiful song." Aaron replied.
"I'll go put him to bed."
"Spence…"
"Yes?"
"Come here." Aaron said, patting the spot beside him. Carefully, Spencer sat there, Jack asleep on his lap. "I love you." the older said, leaning down to kiss him. Spencer smiled in the kiss, fully kissing back.
"I love you, too." He wishpered.
Aaron pressed their forheads together, while his left hand stroked his son's hair.
"You… you should buy a piano. Music is great for so many things…" Aaron said. "We could put it here in the living room. I don't think Jessica would mind a couple more items."
Spencer looked at him. Was Aaron impling what he thought he was impling? Aaron saw the puzzled look his younger lover was giving him.
"It's not like you're not here almost all the time we're in town. And as for Jack, he loves you from the first day you met." Aaron pressed their lips togheter, briefly. "And as for me… I've always cared for you, and now I love you with all my heart. Move in with us, Spence."
Spencer started crying, which horrified Aaron, but soon a wide smile spread across the doctor's face. He cuddled against Aaron's chest, carefully adjusting Jack on both their laps, and that's how they felt asleep that night.
