'Run, Kazune, run!' My thoughts screamed at me. My legs were moving fast, but not fast enough. The attacks just kept on coming. Why, why was this happening?

"Fine then, if you won't face me, your little goddess friend will then!" Kiriko said, turning his attacks on Karin.

She screamed and bolted.

But she couldn't bolt fast enough this time.

The ball of energy hit her in the back, knocking her over.

"Karin!" I yelled, rushing over to her. I checked her pulse. Nothing. She was dead.

I woke up in tears. I will not let Karin die. Ever.

I went to go get a drink of water, passing by Karin's room on the way. I heard sobbing coming from inside, so I went in.

"K-Karin...?" I whispered, "Are you okay...?"

I looked at her. She was wearing a faded pink nightgown, but it had bloodstains on it. She had a knife in one hand, and slits on her opposite wrist.

You come to me with scars on your wrist
You tell me this will be the last night feeling like this

"What's wrong with you Karin!?!?" I whisper-yelled at her.

"I.. I've had enough of it.." she replied softly while crying, "I can't take it anymore, the whole goddess thing, the super elite school, it's just... too much to handle.."

I just came to say goodbye
I didn't want you to see me cry, I'm fine

"Karin! S-snap out of it! Don't do this to me!" I shouted. I didn't even bother with whispering anymore.

"W-why should I-I?" She asked, louder this time, "I have nothing! My parents are dead, my aunt doesn't want me, and my real cat died!"

I looked down, unable to look her in the eyes. She didn't know the truth, and I couldn't tell it to her. Instead, I gave her a hug.

"K-Kazune-kun?!? What are you doing?" She asked, looking like she wanted to punch me in the face. I kept my arms tight around her, refusing to let go.

This is the last night you'll spend alone

Eventually, she calmed down. "Th-thanks, Kazune-kun..." she mumbled, as her exhaustion caught up with her and she fell asleep in my arms.

I whispered something in her ear, hoping that she would be able to hear it, even in her dream.

"The night is so long when everything's wrong
If you give me your hand I will help you hold on"

Karin mumbled something, but it was too quiet for me to hear it. I continued whispering in her ear, hoping that she might hear it in her dream.

"I won't let you say goodbye,
I'll be your reason why."

"I love you, Karin."
