She was running, screaming, reaching out for what she could not grasp. She was gasping, choking, the tears non-stop running down her battered cheeks. Her arm outstretched, pain searing through her body, she stumbled, slipped, fell, crashed. The muddy ground met her trembling body, her blood dripped into the soil. She looked up at the spinning scene, going around and around her, surrounding and suffocating her. Silence was paired with her heavy breathing, her painful gasps of torture. She laid there, staring at everything, seeing nothing. Then she sprung up, ignored the voice screaming for rest, and took off again, running in a blinded view of just where she was going. Thorns embedding themselves in her bare legs, sweat stinging her cuts. She couldn't register it. She just kept going. Running in confusion, in anger, in pain, in fear. She stumbled, and she kept going. She stumbled again, she barely made it back to running. She stumbled, a finial time. She slipped, she fell, into a dark whole, she didn't see. She looked up, trying desperately to catch her breathe, to catch her thoughts, and to figure out what happened. Her eyes widened, she let out a scream as her body spazzed in pain, in a failed attempt of defense. A cobra slithered and hissed back and forth in front of her, its mouth wide, fangs dripping with poison. It striked forward, hitting her shoulder again. She wrenched herself back, her feet kicking the dirt in front of her, her one arm trying to push herself up, the other, paralyzed by her side. Her arm collapsed, she couldn't move, she couldn't escape. She stared in realization, as the snake readied for its last attack, its final death strike. Her breath hitched in her throat, and she closed her eyes, then, she opened them again. She jerked up from laying down, and looked around the darkness encasing her. She was trembling, her body drenched in sweat, tears stained her face. Her arm groped to her left, and soon the room was illuminated by the soft glow of her desk lamp. She gasped, and then she sighed. It was just another dream, another nightmare.
