I threw my head back and let down another shot, I brought my head up and scrunched up my face.

"Gross!" I said.

"You better just stick to your usual drink for now San." Audrey told me leaning over the bar, "So you never said why you are alone on New Year's Eve, I'm shocked!" She said wiping the bar between us.

"Well… I got stood up, sadly!" I laughed hoping to cover up the disappointment I had in me.

"Some girl to stand up Santana Lopez!" Audrey said chuckling.

"Well everyone gets stood up at least once. Right?" I giggled taking a sip from my drink.

"San, my shift ends soon, we could make it in time for the big ball drop in Times Square?" Audrey offered.

"Oh, I don't know, I think I'll just sit here till 2012 and get wasted!" I laughed taking another sip.

"Okay, was just trying to help out a friend." She smiled walking away to serve someone else.

I spun my bar stool around and leaned back against the bar. I watched as the crowd threw their hands in the air and bopped up and down. The music was loud, so loud I could hear my self think. The room was dark, except for the dance floor that had random flashes of colour hitting it. I would've got up to dance but my head was still spinning from the recent shot I just threw back. I glanced up at the huge clock that sat on the wall just for tonight, 10 minutes to 2012. I looked back at the room and someone caught my eye. She walked into the bar her hair perfectly sitting straight framing her face. She pulled off her coat and hung it over her arm revealing a tight black sequined dress. She had rosy red cheeks, and she wore a smile on her face. She had company, a small brunette stood next to her laughing with her. I hoped the brunette was nothing more than a friend, this girl was intriguing, she had a sparkle and I needed to know more!

I kept a close eye on the blonde, that's all she was at the moment and intriguing blonde girl in a bar. The brunette stood up and hugged a tall guy, they left leaving the girl alone. The countdown began, the whole bar shouted it out. I kept my eyes glued to this girl, praying she would glance my way just for a split second so she could see me. I second was all that was needed.

"7, 6, 5" I whispered to myself, the whole crowd just a blur now.

She looked around the room, like she was searching. She caught me looking, so I waved and smiled, she chuckled and stood up. I stood up too, we slowly approached each other counting down with the crowd. I got only feet away from her, her face becoming clearer and more beautiful with each step I took to becoming face to face with her. She smiled, bowing her eyes in my presence. We both took one more step and we were nose to nose.

"One." We whispered together.

She tilted her head to the right and paused staring at my lips before quickly closing the gap between us. She rested her hand behind my head, her fingers tangled in my loose hair. I rested my hand on her cheek, caressing her soft skin lightly. I heard nothing, my mind was bare, the crowd may have been cheering but we were lost in out own world. She pulled away and smiled widely giggling nervously.

"Happy New Year." She whispered.

"Happy New Year." I whispered back, "I'm Santana." I told her.

"I'm Brittany." She said.

"Do you want to…?" I gestured towards the door.

"Sure." She replied so softly.

She linked her finger with mine and led me to the exit. That was the first time I saw her face, the first time I saw Brittany, she was perfect and at that moment I knew that kiss wasn't the last.
