Passing Notes

By: Saphire Knight

A/N: Hi! It's been awhile. I'm sorry for my very long hiatus. I feel I should explain myself, but I will another time. For now, please enjoy the revamped version of Passing Notes! I do not own Kingdom Hearts, I am merely a fan.

Summary: My husband and I have been together for 10 years. We get along pretty well now, but things were not always so tame. I guess our story is similar to the one where to people from two very different worlds meet and fall in love; however, I hope our "love story" grabs a bit more of your attention. Let's call it Passing Notes.

Chapter 1: You Are In A No Service Zone...

Normal days are only for normal people, I am far from normal. I always anticipate my days being weird, but I rarely expect it to matter. Today I should have. Why does life like to randomly throw people for a loop? Oh well I suppose I'll be thankful later.

First Period:

"Good morning students, this is your principle speaking and I have a few very important announcements", as my principle was speaking, a man in a white uniform strolled into our room holding a bright baby blue garbage bag.

'What the hell?'

Our principle continued his announcement and seeing as I was incredibly bored, I cared to listen. "As you may have noticed, there is a man in a white suit holding a garbage bag standing by the door."

Everyone snapped their heads in the direction of the door. The stranger approached the front of the room and stood with the bag drawn open. "These men are here to collect all of your electronic devices." Cue the dramatic gasps and shouts of protest, of course. "You are to place any device that you have that runs on electricity, including calculators, in the bag that they possess. Since you are all attending a private academy and I was given permission to do as I please, so long as I see it is beneficial to your education, you must abide by my policies. If you refuse to take part in this social experiment, I will be forced to expel you from this school with no questions asked. With that said, I hope you enjoy this experience and learn what life was like before we had technology. Now I will leave you to your studies. Have a nice day."

The man in white stepped up to the first victim. "Put it in the bag." That monotone voice was quite alarming.

"Hm, let me think about this," the teen being addressed said with a hint of mockery in his tone, "no. You can't claim our possessions if we haven't done anything wro-" He disappeared? It was as though he evaporated into the air. Was the man in white a magician? A superhuman? So many questions, but right now that's irrelevant to the story.

"Does anyone else care to protest?" the man in white regarded the class and heads swayed left and then right, no one wanted to go wherever that other kid went. The students silently did as they were told and placed their devices ever so gently in the bag with little to no argument.

The mysterious man arrived at my desk and snickered when he saw me toss my dinosaur phone in the bag along with a calculator that was worth more than I was. I scowled at him and then turned to my notebook. I was working on a new novel for the Writers Digest Annual Writing Competition.

"Anything else?" He asked.

"No." I spat. He moved on.

When he had finished his collection of all things shiny and new, he dismissed himself and let us know that he would be back tomorrow and so on.

The rest of the period was silent, I disregarded my notebook in favor of working on the review for the Calc test tomorrow. Calculus was hard, but doing it without a calculator was almost impossible; however, because uncle Leon said it was too expensive to buy one I didn't use one much anyway. The one they took from me was the teacher's. I felt bad, it was a nice calculator.

Before Lunch:

Throughout my morning classes nothing spectacular happened. All anyone was concerned with was the ban. Many, too many, of my classmates were suffering from social media withdrawals. If I hadn't despised most of them, I would feel bad for them. Phones and iPods are what my generation survives on, without it, everyone is lost.

Luckily unlike the others, I wasn't bothered by the ban on electronics. In fact, I was very pleased that I wouldn't be in the background of a random teenage girl's selfie, and the teacher wouldn't have to stop class just to tell everyone to put their phones away and pay attention. I'm definitely the most excited student when it comes to the ban but really, that's not surprising. I am a "weird kid" after all.

Lunch:

The fun stuff always happens during lunch. Lunchtime is the start of the better half of my day. It is the first time in the day when I get to see people that don't make me regret going to a school with other people in it. Did I mention I was homeschooled for a majority of my life thus far? We'll touch more on that later, but for now back to lunch.

I entered the cafeteria with the thought of Xion bringing something tasty from her old man's café. I met Xion 6 years ago at the Taste of San Antonio. We instantly clicked and later I found out that she would be attending the same academy as me and from then on the rest is history.

I often feel bad when I recall how she had the potential to be the most popular girl in school, but she gave it up to be friends with the misfits of our academy. She says not to worry about it though because we are way cooler than those stick-up-the-ass people that only care about appearances and staying popular. She is pretty amazing.

I sat down at my usual spot at the table.

"Axel," called Xion, "Dad said that he wants you to come over for dinner tonight."

"I'd have to check with Leon. He probably won't let me." I sighed. Leon can be such a pain. I'm thankful that he took me in after the accident and all, but he's so cruel to me. I don't know what I did to displease him.

"Did you get in trouble again?" she asked with a frown.

I nodded.

"What did you do this time?" she sighed in frustration. "How come everytime I ask you to do something, you're grounded or busy?"

"I didn't do my chores after school. " I lied. "I'm sorry, I just have a lot going on, and you know how strict he can be." I felt a twinge of pain in my heart. I really hated lying to her.

Xion huffed. "Fine, but you will be coming over on soon right? My dad asks about you all the time, 'Why hasn't Axel come back over yet?' or 'Did I scare him?'"

I chuckled. "Just tell him that, from what I can gather from our two interactions, he is a pretty chill dude."

Xion rolled her eyes. "You're so strange." She pulled out her bento box and handed the top of it to me with a pair of chopsticks because yes we're weird and eat bentos at an american school. I opened it and my senses were assaulted with the scent of sweet and tangy treats. I love Mr. Mayfair!

"Where's Vanitas?" I inquired.

Xion stopped mid bite and sighed. She'd text him, but we don't have any phones anymore. "He should be here anymo-speak of the devil. Hi Van."

Vanitas sighed. "Damn, I was hoping to scare him sis." He pet me. "'Sup Fire?"

I nipped at his hand. "Not much just trying some new sweets from your dads bakery and eating the souls of those who dare to pet me."

He laughed and hugged me. "You know you like it."

"Uh? No." I hugged him back.

He sat next to Xion and two seconds later a loud and ever-so-eager brunette followed by a calm, cool, and collected platinum blonde sat down. "Hi guys! How's your guys' day been?"

I was so close, it was almost to my mouth and then he scared the shit of me and the heavenly treat fell to the floor. I whined, "Sora, I am trying to eat heaven in a bento box! Now look what you did!" I looked bashfully at Xion. "Sora ruined my treat momma. May I pwease have another?"

Xion raised an eyebrow and shook her head. "You are so weird. Here." She surrendered the holy grail of all things creamy and delicious. If I had any athletic capabilities, I would have done a backflip, but I lack that ability so you guys will just have to watch me stuff my face.

"Mmmmm" I moaned when the cheesecake met my taste buds and did the dance of eternal love. "So good!" My eyes fluttered shut as I took another bite after bite. After it was all gone, I opened my eyes to see six pairs of eyes staring at me. "What? It's good!"

A round of laughter filled the table. "Foodgasm much?" Dem asked in between chuckles. Zex was the only one not laughing, he was focused on his book.

I blushed. "So? I liked it! Don't judge me!" I pouted. "Meanies!"

Dem wrapped his arms around me and Zex looked at us with a hint of jealousy, he's so possessive, but I love him anyway.

I rolled my eyes. "Zex, it's a hug. Dem is all yours honey."

Zexion turned away with a blush and Demyx gave me a quizzical look. I chuckled and gave his hair a light ruffle. "Don't worry my dear, Zex is just being a possessive pansy."

Dem's eyes lit up and he jumped on Zexions lap. His arms wrapped around Zex's neck. "Aw Zexy, are you getting jealous? You know I'm only gay for you lover." He leaned forward and kissed Zexion's forehead. "I love you."

Zexion replied, "I love you too." He leaned up to Dem's ear and whispered something into it, to this day I still don't know what it was. Dem turned fifty shades of red and slid off of Zex's lap.

I turned back to my heaven in a bento and finished up before gathering my stuff and dashing for my favorite class, Creative Writing.

I didn't even make it out of the cafeteria when I ran into the most obnoxious, self-centered, little bitch in this school, Roxas fucking Strifeheart. This kid has been the bane of my existence since we were 3, yes 3! I was introduced to him when my uncle Leon invited his best friend to stay the night. In case you were curious, I live with Leon because my parents didn't want me. Anyway, Leon's friend Cloud had to bring his little brother and that was when I met Roxas.

I have a high tolerance for others and I always have, but what he did to me that day was the start of a never-ending fued of foes.

Flashback

Leon walked in with two strangers following in tow. "Axel, I want you to meet Cloud", he gestured to the spiky haired blonde and then to his mini me, "and his little bro Roxas."

The blonde, Roxas, bowed slightly and I returned the gesture. "Hi. My name is Axel. I'm *thwee."

Leon and Cloud went to the kitchen for a snack which left Roxas and I alone. I made an attempt at befriending him, but as soon as Leon and Cloud left, Roxas was turning on our TV and stopping on 'Hey Arnold'. I immediately went to turn off the TV. "I'm not allowed to watch TV until Leon says it's okay."

Roxas narrowed his eyes and shoved me out-of-the-way to turn the TV back on.

"Hey! I'm goin' to get in *twouble!" Not even 30 seconds later, Leon walks in and I get scolded.

He shrugged at me and that's when I first realized I would never be his friend. Sadly, I had to see him every weekend for the next 14 years.

End Flashback

Okay, I know that is a dumb reason to hate someone, but I was three, give me a break. Anyway, you're about to see why I still hate him. 3...2...1... cue attitude.

"Watch where you're going firecrotch!" Roxas bitched as he shoved me out of his way.

"But Roxy I just wanted to let you know that I am soooo looking forward to our romantic weekend together!" Ugh, I damn near gagged saying that.

He stopped, turned, approached, and jabbed me in the gut with his fist. "These visits are mandatory because I'm still in my brother's custody. I am not involved with you and I never will be. If i hear you say anything as vile as that again, I will beat the hell out of you." He left.

I coughed, heaved, and slowly dragged myself to class. Damn that bastard is strong.

After that exciting lunch, the rest of the day went by normally, minus the school basically being a "No Service Zone".

So, how was that? Bad right? This is also my first fanfic ever, so please cut me a little slack. Any confusions in Axel's and/or Roxas's history will hopefully be straightened out by the third chapter, if this story continues. Beta wanted if you would like to help me P.M. me. Bye for now my "Knights/Knightresses".
