* Dear Gary Hobson,

If you get to read this, you are the one.
I suppose you were always the one, really.

And, if you get to read this,
it also means you get the early edition as well.
You may have found a newspaper contained in this envelope, and wondered at its significance in
the story. Well, it was my first early edition.

It is now over a year later, and I'm still getting used to it.
It was hard at first, I'm sure you know, but it's getting easier, as the days go by.

The biggest questions regarding the paper you must have, is, who, what, where, when and how.
Well, as I've been selected by *them* to tell you, I will lay it out in full:

It all started, I suppose, when Chicago was bought from the local natives, in the year 1795.
This particular tribe were known by the Europeans for their specialised, and accurate, fortune telling.
Thus, it is thought by most in the *upper circle* that the original *early* recievers of the paper, over
150 years later were mixed descendants of these natives, as the Europeans regularly inter-married.

The first *early* reciever of the paper was, indeed, of mixed origins. Jeremiah Holland, though a
son of an Irish immigrant, had a grandmother who was of native descent.
It is told to me by the *upper circle* that he, originally picked his successor by observing many men and women ,
and then eventually made this decision as regards who had the fairest heart.Since he died, it is said that it is still
his ghost who chooses the fairest heart, and grants the paper unto them. It is also Jeremiah who guides
us through intuition, to make the right decisions. You could say he's sort of a guardian angel.

Since Jeremiah died in 1860, after only recieving the paper for ten years, there has been only three after him,
including me. You are the fifth, and as long as The Sun Times exists, there will always be an *early* reciever, like you and I.

This deluge of information may have shocked you, but always remember it, for you may need to pass it on to the next reciever.
Although it may just be rumour, it is stated that Jeremiah said that every fifth reciver takes over from the last guardian,
to become guardian for the next four terms. This may well mean you may have to carry on from Holland, although, as I say, it may all be
rumour.

Now, about my cat. This cat suddenly appeared on my doorstep the very day I first got the paper, and has done every morning since.
I am lead to believe that *Carl* is the guardian and custodian of tne paper.I have my own theory about him. I think that maybe he may be
the soul of the guardian, as he is certainly MUCH more intelligant than any ordainary house cat.
He seems to posses the certain intuition of a guardian.

As I find it is the only job that may lead me to the truth about my destiny, I have jkust recently taken up the job of print - setter at the
Sun Times.

I wish you all the look in the world, and I hope someday, somewhere our lines may cross, whether on this earth or the next.

Remember me,

Luscious Snow
