"I never liked vagabond good-for-nothing boys, but the Marauders are an exception," said Alice, leaning over to whisper to her best friend Lily. They were learning to pot a Fanged Geranium, and the Marauders were fooling around as usual.
Lily glared at them, particularly James, the undisputed leader of the group – well, mostly undisputed anyways.
"I hate them," she muttered.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, it began to rain confetti. Little colourful ribbons dropped from the ceiling, making the plants go crazy. Mandrakes shrieked and the more sensitive people fell unconscious, including Alice. It was a good thing that they were still very young, just planted the day before. The Geraniums bit at them like crazy, the Venomous Tentaculas grabbed at them from behind, causing a whole lot of swearing. The Snargaluff Pods were a whole different story. Amongst all the chaos, Lily could just spot James and his friends make a break for it, and immediately knew that they were the cause for this, not that she wouldn't have suspected them anyways.
All of a sudden, everything went back to normal. No confetti, no plants going crazy, nothing. Students slowly came out of their hiding places. Nothing happened, but everyone was still wary. It was like the calm before the storm.
"Well then, that's that," said Professor Sprout, who had been trying to control the situation all the while, but all her wand waving and shouts were proved useless. "Everyone back to their places, while I figure out who did this."
Soon everyone was back at their places, and started working on their Geraniums again. But as soon as one student touched it, all the geraniums began to sing in a highly off-key, obnoxious voice.
"Lily, Oh, Lily,
Your eyes are as green as a freshly pickled toad,
Seeing you makes my heart explode,
Oh, you're such a beautyyyyyy!
Makes me go flutyyyyy!
Why so much hate?
Will you go on a date?
My dear fairmeadeeee (He means fair lady)
Will you go with me to Hogsmeadeeeee,
Lily, Oh, Lilyyyyy!"
The song looped once, twice, thrice- it didn't stop. Lily felt herself go red as her hair, partially in embarrassment, partially in fury. Everyone around her started laughing, even Professor Sprout seemed to have a hard time holding back her laughter. Furious and fully intending on confronting James Potter later, Lily picked up her equipment and walked out of the greenhouse.
A/N: What'ya think? This can be a series of oneshots featuring James' various attempts to win Lily's heart, if I get good reviews. So please review if you want more. English is not my first language, and there are bound to be mistakes. Constructive criticism is always appreciated.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything. Harry Potter belongs to the lovely Madam Rowling. This is just for entertainment purposes.
