Hello readers! Just a quick note, my story is a mixture between Pride and Prejudice and my own fancy! I loved Pride and Prejudice (book and movie) so much that I just had to write my own version. It will be posted in parts throughout the month and if enough people like it I will be encouraged to keep posting. Please Review, good or bad! I always love receiving comments!

PART ONE: THE BEGINNING AND MR. HILL

June 5th

Dear Diary,

It seems that I shall never be struck with that lighting bolt everybody calls love. Men, I do believe, are foul and concede in every possible way. Why, I seriously don't know why girls sprung into marriage with such men. I know my true love got lost in the mail! (which is terribly slow these days) Why, the other day I received a postcard from an aunt dated two months ago! I dare say, there is no way I will ever keep up with the world!

But put the aside, I have the greatest news! We have a new, handsome, and SINGLE neighbor! Oh, you should have seen mama's face when she heard of his fortune. Being the eldest I was granted special "sneaking" privileges…how else would I know he was so handsome!

Dear Diary,

Oh, What an ill-minded man! I should of listened to my advice from a couple days ago. I knew all men were the same! Money does not change our neighbor's unpardonable attitude! ( 7 thousand a year, I dare say) Yesterday morn' I carelessly strolled over to our new neighbor to greet him to the area. (I must say I was wearing the cutest bonnet, what a coincidence)

"Good Morning'" greeted I while the respectable man stumbled out of his garden abode. I only received a bow! A BOW! I might of understood such a rude gesture if I was wearing my blue dress from last year! He completely ignored me and was stammering something about MY inferiority! There was only one explanation for such behavior, he must have been drunk!

Dear Diary,

Ever since my greeting with thy neighbor everything has been terribly slow! My walks have been decreased by the constant rain we are receiving. I hate being stuck in my house with my mother's constant begging for me to become better acquainted with our wealthy, handsome, successful, and single neighbor. I also have to preoccupy my time with the things I hate the most, needle pointing and playing the piano! The piano is highly glorified. I can't see why young men believe women are accomplish just by playing a scale or embroidering Welcome Home on a pillow!

Dear Diary,

The lighting bolt has stuck my cold heart towards men! On my way to town I happened to come across the most pleasant fellow and I did not see a ring. (Not that I was intentionally looking) We talked for a hour about life and ,believe it or not, pillows! He too believes pillows are a waste of time! Mrs. Hill, it sure does sound great. I believe we are out of ribbons, what I prefect excuse to come across him once again.

Dear Diary,

Life couldn't get any better! My neighbor is hosting a ball! And he invited my whole family. Oh, I might once again make myself known to him! My mother is overjoyed and has bought each one my sisters a new dress! When I confronted Mr. Hill about the joyous news he looked troubled. What a pity he wasn't invited. I really need to learn more about Mr. Hill, his life is quite a mystery to me…. Oh you should see the dress mama bought. The ball will be one of the best moments of my life!
