AN: It seemed I had replaced this part of the story with the wrong document for a little while. Sorry for the inconvenience.

"Just wait until you see it. You'll love it. I'll be famous!"

"Just show it to me already"

"Get ready. It's right here."

"Over there?"

"Ta da!"

"What is it?"

"The next step to a pure race. My most genius idea yet. With this machine, the mutant problem could go away forever."

...

"Rogue, Kitty, wake up it's breakfast time."

"Coming Scott," Kitty said hopping out of bed and running to her closet.

Rogue dragged herself out of bed. She waited for Kitty to leave before bothering to get ready. She didn't bother to shower this morning. Rogue found herself looking at her reflection for a long time, some days she just hated herself. She felt...alone. Never touching was harder than it seemed.

"Rogue," Scott knocked on the door again "Rogue? Are you still in there?"

"I'm coming, I'm coming," Rogue grumbled grabbing her gloves and hurrying out the door.

...

School wasn't any better. The crowd was a muffling white noise, it was better just to ignore everyone. What would be the point in listening? Nobody was talking to her. If they were, it was nothing but useless insults or pointless gossip. She walked through the halls blindly ignoring everything.

"Rogue, I've been looking for you," Kurt ran up to her gleefully.

Rogue walked on, slowing her pace slightly to match his. Sometimes Kurt's joy was uplifting, other times it only made her envious. Rogue wasn't always depressed, just occasionally, this happened to be that occasion.

She vaguely listened as Kurt spoke to her, telling her a some story about Kitty in Home Ec that normally would've been pretty funny.

"Then she tripped and the eggs went everywhere," Kurt finished.

Rogue nodded and gave him a little smile. Kurt raised and eyebrow, unsatisfied with the response.

"Is everything okay right now Rogue?" he asked.

She nodded again and began walking faster trying to avoid further questions. Everything was fine, well, as fine as it could be. She felt a hand on her shoulder, Kurt had stopped her. She jerked away from his touch.

"Are you sure? You seem out of it," he persisted.

"I'm fine Kurt," she assured him.

As she tried to leave he stopped her again, grabbing her wrist to pull her back. Rogue felt a rise if alert as he got closer to her skin.

"Rogue," Kurt said "if anything's wrong then-"

"I'm fine Kurt!" Rogue interrupted "I told you nothing's wrong! Can't you understand? Just leave me alone!"

Kurt was slightly stunned but walked on without another word. Rogue sat down against the hallway walls and sighed. Why, out of any power in the world did she get this one? Every touch set off warning bells in her head. She was usually in fear of any physical contact. Now she'd just yelled at someone who wanted to help. Today had already turned bad, only 12 hours until tomorrow.

...

Charles Xavier sat in his office staring out the window. The students were out training with Logan and Charles felt it his duty to keep an eye on them. Just in case.

"Charles? Are your there?"

Professor X turned his chair towards the door. "I am Hank, come in."

The blue Sasquatch known as Beast walked into the office wearing a slightly worried expression.

"What's wrong Hank?" Charles asked calmly.

Beast sighed "I seem to have come across a particular news story this afternoon. I feel it's something of possible concern."

Hank put his laptop onto the Professor's desk and hit play.

A man in a blue suit appears with a smiling face. "My name is Bradley Barkley and I have breaking news. A scientist named Dr. Allen has invented a revolutionary device for none other than mutants! Doctor, any words?"

The camera panned towards a black haired man in a lab coat. A thin mustache across his lip.

"I am Dr. Jackson Allen and I have just solved ALL your problems. I've invented a machine that will save all of my race and the mutant race. I call it simply, The Cure. With this any mutant will be freed of their curse and given the chance to be normal! Just go to . and make an appointment to save your life," he said.

Hank closed the computer solemnly.

"How is it possible? Wouldn't such a device risk your entire gene pool?" Charles asked.

"It does," responded Hank "I searched into the website and found a but if information in the process. After analyzing it. it seems the likelihood of surviving such a process is lower than a 50% ratio, the likelihood of coming out clean is even lower. This machine could permanently damage someone."

Professor X sighed "I believe we should report the issue to the company right away, they probably don't know of this. Hopefully it'll be taken down. Until then Hank, not a word to the students. We don't want them concerned about this yet, especially because of the risk it serves."

Hank nodded "I agree. Lets just keep this between us for now."

...

"Hey, guys take a looks at this," Iceman gestured to his laptop.

Jean rolled her eyes "Bobby we aren't watching that panda video again."

Bobby laughed "I know. This is way better."

Scott, Jean, Kitty, Kurt, Rogue and Amara all gathered around the computer as Bobby played them the video. Once it was over everyone was quiet.

"Wow. That's unbelievable," Kitty said quietly.

Scott shook his head "I don't know about that. It sounds to good to be true."

"Scott's right," Jean said "I don't think that this Dr. Allen really knows what he's getting into."

"It seems tempting but far fetched," Kurt said looking down at his three blue fingers sadly.

Amara frowned and crossed her arms. "Are you guys sure? This could really help some mutants."

"Amara, these powers are gifts we've been given, we need to cherish them and use them right," Jean told her.

Bobby looked up from his laptop. "Hey, where's Rogue?"

...

The Brotherhood Boarding House was currently full of laughter.

"Did you see his mustache?" Fred Dukes held his stomach in laughter.

"Totally," smirked Lance "I think his voice was the real joke though. Did you hear it? Creepy right?"

"What an idiot," Wanda agreed.

"As if I'd want to give up my awesome power," Pietro slicked back his hair "I beat everyone at races."

While the rest if the group laughed on, Todd Tolensky slumped away to the other room. He looked it his reflection in the hallway mirror, his yellow eyes, green tongue and sickly skin. They called him Toad. People on the street were disgusted by him. He didn't look as normal as his friends. No one could ever love him, not like this. Maybe this "cure" wasn't as bad as it looked.

...

Evan Daniels looked down from the TV. He was in a bar, he was too young to drink but sometimes he could convince them for a beer or two. The news was on, a story about a cure had just played, and he now sat still, his mind processing everything. Spyke looked down at his hands, covered in bony armor that trailed up to his arms, shoulders and breached his face. Looking like this wasn't easy, he lived in the sewers, afraid to face the world. He was only sixteen years old. Was this his chance at freedom?

...

"Dr. Allen Sir...we got a call from one Professor Xavier today."

"Is that so? Yes, I've heard of him."

"He explained how our machine could possibly destroy the user while attempting to remove their X-gene."

"..."

"Sir?"

"This is better than I thought."

"I don't understand Sir."

"I knew of the possibility of failure to convert. But to simply kill if un-successful?"

"Sir? Are you sure?"

"Of course I am. We can purify the race with even more efficiency now. The Cure Project with continue as planned."

To be continued...
