PROLOGUE:

~The Beginning~

It was a rainy day. She strode in silence down the streets of Kei-sha with a wooden umbrella, black fabric decorating the tip with a white dragon painted across it. Her hair was decorated with small crystal studs, as well as very long and silky, her natural violet locks with rainbows of purple highlights braided in a loose plait and slung over her shoulder, hanging below her knees. Many stare at her as she walked by, either in awe of her beauty or enchanted by her presence.

She stopped, blinking her midnight blue eyes at a yellow butterfly, struggling to get back onto its feet from the droplets of rain crushing it into the ground. Her face relaxed. She bent down, reaching out to it-

"Hey, little lady~." A large foot crushed the bug under its heel, two more pairs of feet circling around her. Her eyes narrowed as she peered up at them past her umbrella.

Three ruffian background characters seemed to have appeared.

"Hm?" The blonde one gave a cheeky smile with stained teeth. "See boys, told ya' she was a looker." His grin deepened. She didn't say a word. She only stood there, eyes locked on them.

The blonde was wearing a newly woven festival shirt, green and probably expensive, which meant he must have gained his money through selling prostitutes or illegal practices judging from the condition of the town and his smarmy smile. They were strongly built, but not too strong for her. The last wore his black hair in a high ponytail and had many scars, most definitely a street ruffian or ex bandit; and the brunette? He was so pathetic… Where did she start?

"Hey girl," The brown haired said, wrapping his fingers around her arm. "How's about you come work for us at our inn? You'll get paid nicely for your work."

She looked at the filthy arm wrapping its fingers around her and narrowed her eyes. Her hair turned black from the roots down her braid, and her eyes faded to match. She whispered one word.

His hand was shocked with electricity. "Ouch!" He pulled back, holding his wrist and cringing. He looked down at his burnt palm, confused. "What the-!?"

The two others stared at her, puzzled and frustrated. "You witch! What'd you do to him!?"

The wind started picking up around her feet, her voice being like wine but low with disappointment. "Filthy miscreants… You're nothing but typical background villains in a children's book."

"Wassat!?"

"Very well…" She lowered the umbrella, lifting her index finger. "Looks like I'm the main character then."

She folded her umbrella, pointing it towards them and whispering some words. An explosive force of wind pushed the three back, sending them flying and ramming them into the muddy road. They lay there, eyes rolled back an unconscious.

"Imbeciles." She scoffed, her hair fading back into violet and her eyes returning as well. She looked back over at the pitiful crumbled body of the dead butterfly, a hint of pain glinting in her pupils. She sighed, kneeling down and rubbing dirt over its body, as if to give it a proper burial.

She raised the umbrella back over her head, stepping on one of the men's chests when continuing on her path.

He didn't need that new shirt anyway.
