Jackson is my original character, but I don't own CSI.
Also, I want to apologize for any confusion and inconvenience with my earlier story, "Innocence." I published it again, titled "Finding Innocence." I don't know why it didn't show up when I first published it. Please read and review that one as well :)
And to all my readers in the U.S., have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend :)
This story came to me when I got dinner from a restaurant that had a display with some delicious looking pies and pastries. I loved sweets when I was little, so I thought Jackson might feel the same. Hope you all enjoy...and pretty please review!
One of the benefits of working nights in Vegas was getting to a restaurant for the freshest breakfast. So one morning, Greg and Jackson Sanders went to a restaurant to get breakfast for them and Morgan, who was still at the lab. Greg and Jackson walked in just as an employee was putting some pies in the display shelf at the front of the restaurant.
Jackson's eyes widened when he saw the pies in the display case. He walked up and gazed at all the pies and desserts. "Ooh," he said softly.
Greg smiled as Jackson placed both hands on the glass and gazed at the sweets. "Jacks, don't get so close to the glass."
"Daddy, lookit! Dey all look yummy!"
Greg knelt beside Jackson. "Yeah. They've got chocolate, lemon meringue, caramel apple, strawberry rhubarb..."
"Can we get one, daddy?" Jackson asked with his nose pressed against the glass.
"We'll have to order one," Greg said with a soft laugh.
Jackson frowned. "Can we order one? Mama needs one with her pancakes!"
"Oh, she does?" Greg asked with a smirk.
"Yeah. She needs a chocolate one!"
"She does...or you do?" Greg tickled his son's ribs and Jackson giggled.
"Well...chocolate is yummy. An' so is lemon, an' apple..."
Greg laughed softly. "How about we get a slice of lemon meringue for mama, and I'll take a slice of caramel apple. Which one do you want?"
"Chocolate!" Jackson happily answered.
Greg ordered their pies and Jackson watched as the hostess sliced the chocolate pie. "Daddy, dat one is mine!"
"Yeah, it looks good, huh?"
Jackson smiled widely and nodded. "It looks yummy!"
Greg laughed softly and paid for their food. He smiled as Jackson watched the hostess bag up their order.
"Be careful!" Jackson said. "Dat's our breakfast an' our pie!"
The hostess smiled as Greg said, "She knows, Jacks." Greg thanked her and took Jackson's hand. "You ready?"
"Yeah!" Jackson said with a smile. "Let's go eat our pie!"
They arrived home and enjoyed breakfast with Morgan. She smiled when they pulled out the pieces of pie.
Jackson happily took his fork and took a bite. "Mm! Dis is yummy!"
Greg and Morgan smiled. "It's really good since you finished your breakfast, huh?" Morgan asked.
"Mm-hmm!" Jackson said with his mouth full of pie. "I like pie!"
The End.
