A/N: This is my first fanfic, so please be gentle! CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISISM is accepted. I spelled critisism wrong, probably. Merlin is around 12 in this prolouge. Its about how Merlin has a sister and then after years of thinking she is dead, she reappears in Camelot. And about what happens with that.
Prolouge
As Merlin sat there with his eyes closed, a guilty expression on his face. He heard the screams around him and wondered when it would be over. His sister. His sister, being burnt at the stake, because of him. Him.
No, Merlin, she said in his head, I want you to watch me burn, and know that this was all your doing.
You don't understand. I had to. You were using your magic for the wrong purposes.
No, you see. You didn't have to do anything. You chose to do what you did. What did I do so wrong to make you hate me so much? She asked.
You practiced the wrong kind of magic, and you used your gift for evil. You attempted to kill those who disagreed with our kind, and although I understand that you have every right to be mad at them, they did not deserve to die for something they grew up being taught, and you had no right to kill them. It does make me sad that this is how it ends.
Then stop this.
If I let you live you would do it again.
I promise I won't.
Your promises mean nothing to me now that you proved to me that you break them, Coraline.
What would mother think of you for doing this?
And then there was silence.
The drums started to beat, and Merlin's sister was brought up and tied to the stake. Her head was kept down, but once she was tied up to the stake she brought her head up and shot glares at everyone around her in a last defiant gesture. Finally, her eyes landed on Merlin. Merlin wanted to look away, to close his eyes, but he couldn't this was his doing, just like Coraline had said. They looked at each other for one moment more before they broke eye contact. Merlin was covered in a cloak, because if the people in Lott's kingdom found out she had a twin brother, he would be treated very suspisciously and have an almost guaranteed place at the stake.
As the stake was lit and Coraline burned, Merlin cried silent tears of sorrow. Merlin knew that what he did was wrong. He hadn't meant to get her caught.
But he did.
And now she was dying.
I'm sorry. Merlin said to Coraline mentally.
I... will never ...forgive...you...for...this. She responded through breaths of pain.
Not being able to stand it anymore Merlin walked away from the excecution and started the walk back to Ealdor.
A/N: I hope you liked it! Review!
