Frame of Love
Headmistress Potter sighed in fond remembrance as she hung the portrait of her predecessor…her grandmother Minerva McGonagall-Dumbledore. It was an incredible likeness down to the silken curls woven into the strict bun.
As she admired the painting her deputy came in with two small children.
"Hey babe," Professor Potter smiled kissing her cheek.
"Hey," she smiled sadly.
"Up mummy!" the two year old with the auburn curls and green eyes pleaded holding up his arms. She smiled and lifted the boy up as the six year old with the curl ebony pigtails and blue eyes was lifted into her father's strong arms.
"It's a great set of paintings Allie," Albus Severus Potter said softly.
"I thought it fit," Allison nodded.
"How'd you get it done so fast? I mean the funeral was only a few days ago," Albus replied.
"I've had hers painted for a year now…I started it when she got sick. The other I did after she died…"
"You mean when you disappeared for a whole day?" Albus asked. Allison nodded as they left her office and went down to dinner.

The moment the door closed the other portraits started asking why the Headmistress would place an empty gold frame behind her desk.
"That girl is nutty. All the changes she made when Minerva was sick ...and now a frame with nothing but a couch, novel, and fire?" Phineas questioned.
"You have to admit it's a good painting though. So is Minerva…I wished she'd have been alive to paint me," Armando sighed softly.
As the portraits spoke with each other two others met in the empty frame.
"Allie did an excellent job on you my dear. You look as ravishing as the day I married you," Albus smiled holding Minerva's face.
"I wish you could have seen her grow up Albus. She was such a clever Ravenclaw and Albus was a very surprising Slytherin," Minerva smiled.
"We have eternity to watch now. I see my granddaughter knew my favorite way of spending free time with you," Albus smiled kissing his wife's head.
"She asked me what I wanted and this is what I said," Minerva replied as they curled up on the sofa together and he opened the book.
Allison came back in the office late that night unable to sleep. She padded down the stairs and sat at her desk turning in her chair to look up at the frame. She sighed as she looked at it.
"Happy Anniversary Grandmother and Grandfather!" she replied quietly.
"We thank you dear for our gift," Albus answered smiling. His eyes twinkled through the portrait.
"I felt that you deserved to be reunited in the best way. A love that meant so much to so many should not be forgotten….there's an everlasting sticking charm on the frame," she said shrugging.
Minerva and Albus smiled at her and laughed.
"You're a sweet and clever kitten," Albus smiled.
"Good night grandfather. I love you both," she replied standing and heading back to her bed and husband's arms.
"Good night kitten. We'll keep some room for you," Albus replied as the door shut behind them.
