They'd found it. They'd finally found it: the Normandy SR-1. Of all the things he'd lost over the years, the Normandy was still the most painful. It wasn't just a ship, not really. It was the place he got started. The place he fought against Saren. The place he made his closest friends; his new family. The place he and Ashley had a chance to start something. It had been home.

He knew he needed to go down and see it for himself, regardless of how much it might hurt. Shepard looked over at Joker, saying nothing; they didn't need to. Taking a deep breath, he stepped into the Kodiak, ready to head down to the wreckage.

He relished in the soft crunch under his boot as he stepped out into the snow. It helped keep him grounded as he took in the remains of his first ship. He wandered around reminiscing as he found different parts his ship.

"Shepard, are you alright down there?" Joker asked over the com.

Shepard looked around at his surroundings, taking in the overturned Mako, the destroyed lockers, the dog tags littering the ground. What could he say? What could possibly express the terrible sadn-

"I'm so freaking cold!" Shepard rubbed his hands together and continued angrily, "Why didn't anyone tell me this planet was so cold?! Joker! Make sure there's a blanket and hot chocolate waiting for me back on the Normandy!"

"Commander? Are you sure you don't want to stay down there a little bit longer? I mean, you've only been there for like, five minutes. Can't you at least collect the dog tags?"

"Nope. I'm cold."

"Are you at least gonna place the statue?"

"Well if you wanna come down here and freeze your ass off, be my guest. I'm cold; I wanna leave."

"So much for nostalgia…"

"Shut up, Joker."

Author's Note:

I just think Shepard needs to have his priorities. Nostalgia is fine and dandy, but that planet looks cold and metal armour doesn't look like the warmest things ever.

Sorry it's not really written particularly; I don't feel like editing it properly. I looked over it briefly, but I probably missed a bunch of stuff. If you see anything, let me know.
