Eyes up. Stand up straight. Head Forward. You are prettier than all these girls anyway. And a tad smarter and ambitious too.
I trod the halls of Hogwarts, heading to my Arithmacy Class. Calculus was a fascinating subject, something I would want to take part in. Straddling the two worlds, muggle and wizard, would lead to some interesting opportunities in the future, career or otherwise. Being a muggle born had its perks.
I did not look make eye contact with anyone in the hall as I walked by. Soon I would meet my friends, Ada and Clare. I wanted to do something exciting this afternoon, maybe tea or a game of chess with them. They were the best thing to happen to me at this school. I tried my best to maintain the rest of my house as mere acquaintances. It was difficult being a Slytherin mud blood, but what could I say? Most of my dominant characteristics were worthy of the Slytherin House, and I loved it more than anything.
It was raining outside. A gray sky hung over the drenched, gloomy courtyard. The grass was dampened and the old spruce tree looked scarier than usual. I liked that about Hogwarts, its darkness and allure always present. It was soothing, in a mysterious kind of way. I think I preferred this setting to a warm, toasty fireplace.
Chin high. Head up.
I entered the classroom, and took a seat next to the window.

I stood in front of the mirror, the gloomy green light fading in and out behind me, pulsing ever so slowly. I examined my face. Puberty had treated me well. I especially liked my cheek bones. Elegant. I traced a finger along my collarbone and slipped off my robes, stepping into the shower. Cold showers were good for your skin, I heard, so I turned the knob left to an icy blue.
