A/n: This is set as though 7x9 and 7x10 never happened because I wrote it before I watch those episodes. Also it's my first story so please review and tell me what you think/how to improve. Thanks!

All those days watching in the windows
All those years outside looking in
All that time never even knowing
Just how blind I've been

She remembered all the years she had spent watching Ted on his quest for The One. She remembered laughing at his overly romantic gestures and his pathetic attempts at a perfect fairytale romance. That had never been her and yet, she wasn't entirely sure why. She should want that, shouldn't she? The house with a perfect husband and two wonderful children and all that. She had tried. She had gone out with Ted, the king of the romantic, and yet she had felt stifled. What about her job, her dreams of seeing the world. Wasn't that important too? Then there was Barney, really the anti-Ted. He was so far away from settling down and yet for a brief moment hadn't they thought that they could. That it might work? Yet, it nearly killed them and in her heart she knew she never wanted to feel like that again. Didn't she?

Now I'm here blinking in the starlight
Now I'm here suddenly I see
Standing here it's all so clear
I'm where I'm meant to be

So, then, why in the world was she even considering getting back together with him? Forget the fact that she could never get him out of her mind. Forget that whenever she saw him with anyone else she felt as though she was being torn apart. Forget that even when she was with someone else she dreamed of being with him. Forget all of that, after all she was with Kevin. He was right for her, wasn't he? He was sweet and caring and he listened and they could work out their problems without screaming. He could be The One for her. Besides, it's not like Barney felt the same way. Did he?

And at last I see the light
And it's like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it's like the sky is new
And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you

She had to know. She wasn't even sure exactly what she was doing until she was standing in front of his apartment. She lifted her hand. Should she knock? She wasn't sure what would happen, but she knew if she did knock things could never go back to the way they were. She knocked. Nothing happened. Silently she prayed that he wasn't home. That he wouldn't answer the door. She heard a shuffling on the other side of the door and briefly considered running. No, she had to face this. If not now than when? What would happen if these feelings grew but by then it was too late. All her thoughts were scattered when he opened the door. "Robin?" he asked as if unsure if she was really there. "Hey," she answered lamely, suddenly felling self-conscious. Why had she come? What was she…"Do you wanna come in?" he asked standing aside so that she could enter. "Sure," she said as she stepped inside.
