I sat on the couch silently. Soul was out on a date tonight and Blair was working, so I was the only one here.

It was boring. No one to talk to, no one to cook for, no one to watch tv with. Oh well, I should have known it was going to happen. He was going to accept some of those letters, and then he's going to leave me.

Alone.

Rain hitting glass distracted me from my morose thoughts. I ran to the window in my room.

A streak of lightning colored the insides of the apartment blinding white. The lights flickered out. Oh no.

I was afraid of thunderstorms.

I jumped when a loud boom echoed. I grabbed a pillow and my comforter, dragging them to the corner with me.

Lightning flashed continuously, large growls and booms following them. Alone. I was alone. In a storm. Tears dripped down my cheeks.

The front door opened and closed. Footsteps echoed throughout the empty house. I clutched my pillow closer, pulling the comforter over my shoulders.

"Maka, are you there?" a familiar voice asked. I looked up. In the doorway stood Soul, looking at me curiously. "W-what?" I asked.

He scooped me up, comforter, pillow and all. "I though you weren't gonna be home till late tonight?" I mumbled. He looked down at me. "It's thundering. I knew no one else would be home. I wouldn't leave you alone in a storm." He said.

We sat down on the couch. He shifted around so that I was on the outside and he was on the inside, his arms wrapped around my waist and the comforter over both of us.

"Promise you won't leave me alone." I whispered. Soul looked down at me, his crimson eyes a soft burgundy.

"I promise."
