Ok, if you haven't seen the first episode of the new Digimon season you probably won't get this. I'm not sure if everyone who actually watched it will understand it either, though. Well, this is an article/essay that T.K.'s mom was writing at the beginning of the episode as T.K. left for school. I'm not sure if she's a journalist or if she went back to school or what, but it just struck me as funny. An hour later, this is what she had....
Oh, I just made all of this up...I really have no idea how toilet paper originated.

You use it every day but probably take it completely for granted. Without it though, the world would be a much less pleasant place to live. Toliet paper has been around for centuries but has gone through many significant changes to become what we know it as today. From being a substitute for facial tissue to an essential ingrediant in any Halloween prank, it has also taken on many differnt uses. From the richest and most powerful leaders in the world to the common working man, it is the one thing that everyone has to use.
The earliest forms of toilet paper were leaves and soft bark from trees used thousands of years ago by primitive man. The real history of toilet paper began roughly 5,000 years ago though. Before toilet paper existed people would use handkercheif-like cloths which were then soaked and scrubbed clean. It was not until the germ theory became a commonly accepted idea out of scientific circles that such cloths were washed in hot water, but by then the idea of a disposable cloth was just beginning to form. An English poet named Johan Smith is commonly regarded as the first man who used toilet paper. It was in a London bar that a rival poet of his, William Toilet, handed Johan a copy of his latest poem to read. Johan hated it so much that he proceeded to wipe his buttocks with it in order to spite him. This angered his rival so much that he stabbed him to death on the spot, but it was only a few days later that William reflected on the event and saw the possiblities.
He continued to write and sell poems, but only now he did so at the public outhouses. Customers would purchase copies of his poems to read while using the primative restrooms, and then use the very same document to clean themselves when they were done. This began a practice that soon spread thoughout all of Europe and all over the world. Later the writing was discarded for cleaner sheets of paper. It was not long before the modern-day roll started to appear and the writings became a thing of the past.
However, many new and exciting developments awaited toilet paper as it entered the twentieth century. New colors, moisturizers, perfumes, stitching patterns and even preforated sheets would emerge...

T.K.'s mom stared at the screen and wondered to herself, "Why am I writing this?"
