She caressed the silver dollar between her fingers, searching for an answer. Two very different choices lay in the fork of the road before her. Two sides of the same coin.
Rachel flicked the coin in the air, watching it gleam in the light as gravity took hold of it making it descend. It fell neatly into her palm. Heads.
She turned it over. Heads again.
"I make my own luck" she recalled Harvey saying. She knew how he'd play this.
Things can't always be left up to chance. We're more than a flip of a coin. A simple heads versus tails doesn't cut it in the real life.
Two men. Two sides of a coin.
We control our own destinies, don't we?
Rachel drew a pen from her pocket and scratched a T on one side of the coin.
Alright, Harvey, I'll play it your way once. Heads...it's you. Then she tossed the coin. She watched it, flipping side to side as it rose, its answer entirely up to fate. Reaching up to catch it, she hesitated before finding her answer.
"Someday when Gotham no longer needs Batman"
Harvey Dent. Bruce Wayne. Two men so different, whom she both loved. But who more?
The answer lay in her hand, all up to chance.
Heads. Tails. It could be either.
Rachel looked away for a long moment, fighting back the nagging curiosity. How could she make her choice on the toss of a coin? Harvey might approve, but what would Bruce say? Making her decision, Rachel thrust coin into her pocket, without looking at it, and released the breath she'd been holding.
Some things were more than a simple coin toss.
