Story time:
One cold day the mareep were wandering around when the shepherd came and sheared off all the wool. One of the mareep saw some cotton candy and thought it looked like wool so they decided it might keep them warm. So the mareep covered itself with bright pink cotton candy. And that's the story of the first shiny mareep.
