Five years after [the end of The Legend of Korra]:
It was a peaceful morning in Republic City. The weather was nice. The light of the spirit portal was there as always, though it got kind of camouflaged in the sunshine. Korra and Asami had moved together in an apartment. The night before, they had went out, partying hard, followed by a fun time in bed. This was the hangover morning. Korra, laying on her stomach, awakened to reach eye contact with her beloved Asami, who had already awakened, and was sitting on her knees in the bed. Happy that Korra had awakened, Asami lay down beside her, placing her hand at Korra's ear, stroking her cheek before giving her a kiss.
"Did you sleep well, Sweetie?" Asami asked. Korra nodded and smiled. Korra sat up in the bed, and so did Asami. They kissed once more, holding their arms around each other.
"Breakfast?" Korra asked.
"Sure! I'll make it" Asami said.
While Korra was taking a shower, Asami fried some eggs for them. When Korra was done showering, Asami took a shower, before they both sat down at the table and ate their breakfast, drinking lychee juice.
"You're not going to work today, right?" Korra asked.
"Of course not" Asami said.
"Do you have any Avatar duties to take care of today?" Asami asked.
"Nope. I thought we could visit Air Temple Island. It's been a while since we've seen Tenzin and them," Korra said.
"Yeah, let's do that!" Asami said.
After calling Tenzin to make sure his family was going to be there, Korra and Asami headed right towards Air Temple Island.
Tenzin, Pema, Jinora, Kai, Ikki, her boyfriend Machida, Meelo, and Rohan were all meeting the two women as they arrived at the island with a boat. Rohan and Meelo hugged Korra.
"Don't forget Asami!" Korra said.
"Impossible to forget," Meelo said. After everyone had said hello to each other, they went into the temple. Tenzin, Meelo, and Rohan were helping Pema preparing some snacks. Korra, Asami, Jinora, Kai, Ikki, and Machida were sitting at a table, talking about how amazing it was to be in a relationship. Until now, they had only been talking about Korra and Asami, and Jinora and Kai. Both couples were doing good.
"So... How are you guys doing?" Asami asked, looking at Ikki and Machida.
"We're doing great!" Ikki said. They both smiled. Machida was a metalbender who had been growing up in Zaofu, but he moved to Republic City when his father started working for the Metalbending Police Force. He met Ikki while she was hanging out with Huan in Zaofu, and they soon became a couple. Machida was rather calmer than Ikki, which most people thought was a good thing, because if they both were as energetic as Ikki, it all could easily get a little bit too much.
Pema and the guys arrived with some sweet buns, when a female Air Acolyte arrived in the room.
"Master Tenzin and Avatar Korra, Chief Beifong is here. She wants to talk to you about something apparently very important."
Tenzin and Korra went outside to meet Lin. Korra took Asami with her. Lin was coming with three policemen: Mako, Bolin and Asghar. Asghar was the father of Machida.
Korra and Asami smiled when they saw Mako, Bolin, and Asghar.
"Thanks for yesterday" Korra said. The three boys had all been part of their night out yesterday. A few seconds of awkward silence occurred.
"In fact, this is an emergency situation," Bolin said.
"What's wrong, Lin?" Tenzin asked.
"Zaheer has escaped his prison" Lin said.
It went cold down the neck of Korra when she heard his name. Even though she had managed to accept what happened eight years ago, she had not heard his name in five years. Zaheer. At first, she did not realize what Lin had said, she was just shocked to hear his name. Then she realized what she was saying, but she could not believe that it was true.
"What? But … How … What the FUCK?!"
