One – Cats
Oliver Wood had always disliked animals. And they disliked him back. It was a relationship of avoidance, and the occasional detour to avoid Mrs. Norris at all costs back when he was a student at Hogwarts.
While he happened to loathe all animals, there was one he had a burning hatred for.
Daisy.
The thing was evil, and Katie couldn't even see it! Did she not see the way it had that venomous gleam in its eye, or stared down Oliver whenever he tried to go anywhere near his girlfriend?
Katie Bell had a pet demon – and the worst part was, she didn't even know it!
When he went to put his hand on her knee – nothing inappropriate! - the bloody beast would swipe his hand away and grow, like he was laying some sort of claim on Oliver's girlfriendl. It wasn't a pretty beast, either - dead ugly, with a lopsided nose and one squinting eye, but to Katie the cat was the most beautiful thing on the face of the Earth.
"She's just protective, Ollie," Katie would say, giggling and petting the fur of the thing, pulling it onto her lap.
Oliver glared at the cat.
The cat glared back.
"She's adorable, isn't she?" said Katie, in that voice with awe in her tone. She looked at the cat – she's had the thing since she was a kid (ancient demon, it was!) with her eyes shining.
As much as he glared at the cat and it growled back, he could never really say anything mean about it.
Katie loved it, even if he couldn't see why. (He did, however, admire her ability to put up with the thing. Wow.)
