A/N: Bellatrix knows who she is and what she's done. She doesn't have to pretend otherwise. I do not own Harry Potter.

She sits in the centre of the large room like a queen on a throne, regarding the spectators with a cold stare. They've all come to see 'justice served' or some other righteous lie they feed themselves. Beside her is her husband, brother-in-law and that brat, Crouch. She cares not for them, or even her own well-being. She knows what they are. She knows what she is.
She is a criminal and proud of it. Long gone is the beautiful, obedient first daughter of the Cygnus and Druella Black, of the Most Noble and Ancient House of Black. She has been moulded, tempered and perfected into the woman she is today. Before them now sits a being of pure evil, or so they would call her. They just might be right, she has done things that would make their hair stand on end if they even knew half of them, but their opinion doesn't matter. All that matters is her Lord and that she has done his bidding as asked.
They spit out her name. accompanied with loudly murmured curses and insults as they read her charges. She doesn't flinch or bat an eyelid as they detail the torture of the Longbottoms. Why should she? She was there, wasn't she? She held the wand that ripped the woman's screams out of her bleeding throat. She listened to the comforting lies her husband muttered under his breath. She watched as her vision grew cloudier and cloudier and heard when the screams eventually turned into unintelligible babbles. She had been just stopped before she could finish the job. Pity that the couple would now have to live a life of such madness. She would have actually been doing them a favour if they had let her continue through to the end.
"How do you plead?" the ominous voice of the judge eventually calls out once he reaches the end of his parchment.
Her male colleagues, such cowards, remain silent but she can't help but release a mad cackle at that question. He asks as if they have options, as if there is any other answer to give besides guilty. Her laugh, once as light as the tinkling of glass but now like crunching of it underfoot, jars the spectators and chills them to their bones. She watches their faces pale which causes her to laugh again.
"This is all a farce!" she shouts, and she smiles as they jump back. "I plead guilty. I know who I am, I know what I've done, and I know who I do it for. You would do well to remember the same. My Lord will reward me greatly for doing his orders as his most loyal servant. Putting me in Azkaban just keeps me safe and fed until his return. He will come for me and you will all see who he truly is."
After she quiets, they all calm down and continue with the proceedings. A few eyes still stray towards her, including those of her husband, but she ignores them all. She has nothing more to say to them. She knows he will come back to free her from their excuse of a prison. She just has to wait.
