The granite figure stood in front of me. His—its—blood red eyes stared at me for only a short moment. It lunged, hitting me hard in the chest. My breath was taken away. I tried to fight, but it pinned me to the ground. I couldn't move. The creature's rock hard skin was like ice on my skin. He curled back his lips and leaned in on my throat. A shriek of agony escaped from me as his teeth sunk into my neck. Fire ran through my veins, and kept coming. Darkness started to close in on me. I screamed for help, but nothing came out. I was slipping into the dark. I took one last frantic look around for any way to escape. There were two more stone figures. When did they enter the valley? One started to run towards me. No more! I wanted to shout until someone heard me. The fire was still burning through me when it jumped, the new figure, on the merciless creature still pinning me to the ground. When it was lifted off of me, I was lifted off the ground. The heat in me burned hotter when I was moving. Why didn't it just leave me here to die? The fire burned, and the darkness dragged me in.
This never should have happened. I should have never gone off that trail. I knew I should have turned back, but there was a beautiful valley ahead. I unconsciously walked into the valley. As soon as I saw the statue ahead of me, I should have turned back. But there was something about the way his dark hair shimmered, the way his skin glistened—but the eyes, blood red. I saw them, and started to turn. I was positioned to run when I was hit with a great force. I couldn't remember what happened. I just woke up here, in this strange place…
