I did this poem for an assignment in my writing camp at Skidmore College. We were suppose to write a poem in the style of a letter and since the Phantom of the Opera was floating around in my head, this came out.

I would appreciate it greatly if you could tell me what you think about this because I would love feedback on it.

You have created so many different aliases that I hardly know which to refer to you as.

Shall I call you the Opera Ghost like the gossiping ballet girls hidden in the wings?

Or should I use the title that you first appeared to me under, the Angel of Music?

Neither seem like the proper ones to use, however.

So, I will address you by the name you whispered to me the night you spirited me away through the mirror.

Your true name.

Erik.

I have heard that you are dead now.

That the skeleton has been found and your reign over the opera house has ended.

Everyone is rejoicing in their freedom but I cannot join them.

For I can still hear the beauty of your voice at my ear and sense your presence there in the shadows.
