OPEN: EXT-SMALL VILLAGE, NIGHT: The year is approximately 0 CE, December 25. The sky is clear as stars shine brightly down upon the town, one star in particular is shining especially bright. The desert surrounding the town is being covered by people walking or riding camels, all of whom are baring something in their arms.
CUT TO. INT-STABLE, NIGHT: Close on a woman of about 25. She screams out in agony. She is in the last minutes of having a baby. Holding her hand is a young man of about 25. Surrounding the man and woman are sheep, camels and donkeys, none of whom are being frightend by the woman's cries. Rather, they look on with reverence.
CUT TO: CLOSE ON MAN'S FACE: He begins to remember something. A voice chimes in. It is a rhymiclly soothing voice, neither male nor female. There is no sign of malevolence in the voice, only calm.
VOICE
You are to find young Mary and with her, bring the saviour of mankind into the world. You are to care for him and love him as a Father should. Teach him the values of good and, in turn, he will bring about peace and love beyond reckoning. Go to her Joseph. Find her, love her and your son.
CUT TO. INT-STABLE, NIGHT: The woman moans softly now. The pain is subsiding. Onlookers from all walks of life step in. Three men clad in finery watch in awe. In the far corner, a young boy crawls in through a hole in the wall. He snags himself on something. He turns and takes off a shash. He continues into the stable towards the young couple. Left behind him is a small drum on a shash.
CUT TO. CLOSE ON WOMAN'S FACE: She winces and weeps. Not in pain, but out of the realisation of what she is about to do. Camera moves closer to her eyes. She too begins to hear the voice that the young man heared.
VOICE
Mary, you are about to embark on a journey. You are going to have a child. This child is the child of God. You will give birth to him, care and love for him. You will be met by Joseph who will take on the part of the boy's father. You will both raise him as your son. Fear not, the boy will, in turn, love you along with all of mankind.
CUT TO. INT-STABLE, NIGHT: The woman gives one final push. She gives a great exhalation as her child is heared. The man holds the young boy who is surprisingly quiet for a newborn. The onlookers gaze in wonder. Mary and Joseph hold the baby close to eachother.
CUT TO. EXT-TOWN, NIGHT: The crowd around the stable has grown greatly. The camera moves up, away from the town, into the night sky. It begins to move towards the bright star over the stable. As we get closer, we see the star is not a star, but a large, diamond shaped object. The object revolves on an axis then flies off into a bright flash and out of sight.

CUT TO: EXT-SPACE, 2412 YEARS LATER: A low rumble of engines can be heared as the Starship Enterprise, N.C.C-1701-F comes into frame. The ship is massive, approximately 900 metres long and fifty or so decks thick.
