Carrie Careless and the Galette des Rois
It was Carrie's birthday, she and her friends celebrated it at her friend Ann's house.
"Happy Birthday, Carrie!" Her friends, Ann, Sandra and Lily said.
"Thank you." Carrie smiled. "We made you a Galette des Rois!" Ann said. Carrie was curious about this Galette des Rois.
"What is that?" "It's a pie with a coin inside it, people say that if you eat the slice with the coin in it, you will be a happy person!" Ann replied, grinning.
"I see." Carrie said. "Well, let's start eating!" Sandra spoke up. They started eating the pie. Suddenly, Carrie cried out, "Aah!"
"What is it, Carrie?" Her friends asked. "I-I swallowed something hard..." "Ahh, it must be the coin!" Ann smiled. "I guess so..."
After they finished the Galette des Rois, Ann, being a helpful girl, brought the plate and the knife back into the kitchen, where she saw her worried mother.
"Dear, have you seen the key to the study? I remember I left it on this tabl-" Ann wasn't listening.
She saw a coin on the table.
The coin she was supposed to put into the pie.
That means...Carrie swallowed the key...
She was about to tell her mother when she saw the knife and she thought of an idea.
Looks like I was just as careless as Carrie.
A few minutes later
Ann got the key back with a triumphant grin and a knife in her bloodied hands.
"I found the keeeey~~ Open the door now~!"
