Summary:
When Iruka gets sick, the Hokage assigns a substitute for Naruto's class. Enter Shinno Hikko, a Chūnin with a mysterious past and dangerous power.
C01:
"Ehhh? Iruka-sensei's sick?" Naruto shouted across the classroom at Kiba. The dog boy shrugged carelessly. "That's what I heard. Dunno if it's true or not."
Naruto frowned. He liked Iruka-sensei a lot! What happens to class now? Would the new teacher hate him like all previous ones before Iruka?
The sound of the door opening jarred the blond from his thoughts, as he hurriedly scrambled to his seat. It wouldn't do to piss a teacher off on the first day after all.
The man that entered was quite unlike what any of them had imagined. Inky black hair that was tied up into a messy ponytail, two piercings on his left ear (a hoop and stud), emerald eyes (even greener than Sakura-chan's!) and pale skin. He walked to the front and wrote down his name in chalk before turning around a giving them all a soft smile.
"You may call me Shinno-Sensei. I'll be in your care from today onwards."
The gentle smile and smooth voice had won many of the girls over, while the boys were all thinking that the man was a pushover. Naruto, on the other hand, was sweating bullets.
The pressure exuding from the man's presence just screamed, "danger! Danger! Run! RUN!" It took a whole lot of sheer willpower for Naruto to calm down enough to start paying attention in class. His heart wouldn't stop pounding, and the sharp smile that flitted across the new teacher's face silver-quick only made him even more nervous. His instincts screamed at him to run. But Naruto was never one to back down from a challenge. The blond just raised his head defiantly, blue eyes glaring stubbornly into green.
An amused smile flickered briefly across the man's face.
Well, it seems like it'll be fun this year.
