Goes without saying that I don't own Twilight. Rated M for mature content.

Chapter 1 - Every story has a beginning

Ever since I can remember, I have had a crush on Jasper Cullen.

You know, that all consuming feeling where everything in the world began and ended with him - well, my world anyway. I could tell you the hours I spent staring at his bedroom window, or the amount of times I wrote his name in my diary, but then I would just look like some lovesick freak who was obsessing over someone who doesn't know that they are alive - which he totally does. Know I'm alive that is.

Only problem is, he knows me as his brothers best friend. The tomboy next door who trips over her feet and wouldn't be caught dead in a skirt. The girl who would rather read quietly than party with her friends. The girl who he used to play with in the sandbox until he outgrew it...and her. The girl who - oh hell, you get the picture. Totally not his type of girl. I'm pretty sure my obsession with him started, the moment I met him, at the tender age of 5.

"Bella honey, come meet our new neighbours," my mum yelled to me out of the kitchen window.

I wasn't sure what all the fuss was about. Our last neighbour Mr. Jonson was a cranky old man who sat on his porch all day yelling at kids to get off his lawn. Even though he was gone, I certainly didn't want to meet the next cranky old person to take his place.

"There you are Bella, come and meet Mr and Mrs Cullen and their twin boys Jasper and Edward." Mum was holding her hand out to me and waving me over. With a big sigh, as only a five year old can, I walked over kicking the dirt with every step.

"And you must be Bella, what a lovely name," the lady said, as she took my hand to shake it. She was beautiful that lady. All warm smiles, caramel hair, and mom loving goodness. I could almost smell the cooking dough on her.

"Hello young lady, a pleasure to meet you," added the man who reminded me of one of those smiling men out of mum's magazines. Together, they looked golden. A glamorous couple who had me in awe the moment I laid eyes on them.

"Bella, these are our sons, Jasper and Edward. They will be starting school with you next week. You'll be in the same class so I hope you will help them to settle in," Mr Cullen said with a wink. Great, now I'm the babysitter for the new kids.

I looked up from my feet, into the bluest eyes I'd ever seen in my short life. And that was it. My five year old self had fallen for Jasper Cullen's charms from the moment I met him - hook, line and sinker.

I often wondered if I had looked up and seen Edward's beautiful green eyes first if things would have been different, but I would never know. What i did know was that the Cullen twins turned my life upside down from that very first day. One was the object of my affection who treated me like a sister, and the other, my best friend who thought I hung the moon. Things, however, were about to become very complicated.

Thanks for taking the time to read! Short chapter to start off, should I continue? Any comments appreciated.
