"Come on, hurry up!" A redheaded girl named Meredith mumbled angrily to herself. There she was, at 4:00 P.M, standing in a line at the grocery store, buying groceries her dad should've bought 'before' she even got home.
"That'll be 50 dollars, sir." The nasally teenage cashier told Meredith's father.
Her father sighed and handed over the money as necessary for the transaction, then started to grab the bags of groceries.
"What's the rush?" her father asked.
"I already told you," the redhead replied in annoyance. "I'm going to be late for band practice, and if I'm late again, I'm going to get in trouble."
With a sigh he took the last of the groceries and began to lead her out.
"And why have you been late before?"
"Because you keep forgetting to do things when they should have been done earlier."
"Such as?"
"There was once when you were asked to buy a cake, you almost forgot, causing me to be late. Then there was the time when you were to help me clean the yard, you did it at the very last minute, and don't make me bring up the time when you forgot to decorate the house for the festival."
He sighed, clearly not in the mood to argue. He began to take her to school for her practice. "You know very well I'm a busy man. I can't always be responsible about everything around the house."
It took them about half an hour to get here, that with having a whole bunch of people on the sidewalks made it very hard to get through. They'd been walking for a while, so Meredith pulled out her cell phone to check the time.
"AH MAN! IT'S ALREADY 4:30!?" she yelled.
"Meredith, calm down," He admonished, still guiding her through the crowds of people. "We'll get there in time. There's no need to rush. Rushing will only make you miss something that could be important. Why don't you run on ahead? I have to get these home and go to the office for a while."
He gave her some money in the event she needed anything and left, pulling out his phone as it rang.
After getting there, she quickly glanced at the school clock, only to groan. 'Great…Just great… I'm late now.' It was already 4:40.
The bandleader scowled as she came into view, arms folded.
"I told you what would happen if you were late again, Meredith. And yet here you are, late as always. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kick you out."
"Look, Haru, I know I'm late, and I'm really sorry! But my dad-" Haru cut Meredith off before she could finish.
"No more excuses! I've put up with this long enough! You wanna blame someone, but it all comes down to you! No more, Meredith, you're gone. It's over, now get out!"
Meredith clutched her fists, and hot tears burned in her eyes. "Fine! I QUIT!"
With that said she ran out of the school. The girl didn't know how long she ran, didn't care if she ran into anyone. She just wanted to get away, her mind replaying every moment that just transpired. Nothing would slow her, nothing would stop her. Dreams shattered, heartbroken, she barged through the front door of her home and slammed it shut behind her before bolting to her own room. Nobody had time to ask what was wrong, as soon the sound of the door slamming echoed throughout the house.
Her father didn't bother looking up, making sure to put things away where they were supposed to go before moving to the table and checking to make sure his report for the following morning was prepared.
Meredith collapsed on her bed and looked up to the ceiling. She spent several moments thinking over what had happened. However, she had gotten the last word in, she left them instead of them kicking her out. It was their loss, something she could live with. Now she just had to make sure she wouldn't lose out on her swim club.
She quickly changed into a turquoise swimsuit and green shorts. She then packed her drawstring bag with her towel and water bottle.
The annoyed girl went to the door, but she couldn't leave without giving her dad a piece of her mind.
Her father stood in the kitchen, still putting away groceries.
"Thank you very much, Dad!" Meredith said in sarcasm.
Her father looked up. "What?"
"Because of you, I'm not in the band anymore!"
Her father just went back to putting things back, not saying anything. The silence continued for some time.
Meredith's eyebrow twitched. "That's it? You have nothing to say?!"
"Look, I know you're mad, and I'm sorry about that, ok? If I go there and speak to them, will it get you back?"
"You don't know Haru. When he says something, he means it. Besides, after he kicked me out, I quit."
Her father sighed and went back to doing what he was doing.
Meredith felt like she was going to burst with anger at any moment. Finally, she snapped. "I can't take this anymore! Dad, you never think about me or our family. AND IT'S YOUR FAULT MOM AND AKIO MOVED OUT!"
When the redhead got her anger out, she ran out the front door, and down the block.
"Hmph!" Meredith was very angry. She just walked until she got to where she wanted to be. Suddenly, her phone began to ring.
"Hello?" She answered.
:Amelia:
A girl with short crimson hair walked down a crowded street, headphones in and music drowning out the world around her. She wasn't in a hurry to get anyway and there was no destination in mind. The crowd around her was loud and tried to drown out her music but failed to do so. Reaching a cross section she checked both ways before crossing the street. The girl stopped and stared into the shop window, inside the café was a group of two girls and three guys.
"Traitors." The girl growled the words out and against the voice of reason within she entered the café.
The bell above the door rang as she entered. The familiar smell of fresh muffins and various other sweets along with coffee greeted her. The café was cool as opposed to the warmth that the crowd had given off only moments ago.
"Amelia!" The crimson haired girl glanced at one of the guys that called her name but didn't let her eyes linger.
Amelia stepped in the rather short line, putting her arms behind her head. She did her best to ignore the group that she had once called her friends. The guy in front of her got his order and left; as she stepped forwards to the cashier she removed her headphones.
"Ah welcome back Amelia, I haven't seen you since that day." The older woman behind the counter gave a sad smile.
"Amelia, hey, where have you been?" Amelia sighed and looked to the guy who had first called her name.
"Can you leave me alone Kei? I'm not in the mood to deal with you." Amelia looked away from him and he only got angry.
"I'll take a strawberry muffin." The cashier nodded and Amelia pulled out her wallet.
"Who do you think you are, talking to me like that Neo?" Amelia stopped pulling her money out when Kei uttered her actual name.
"I would appreciate it if you reframed from using that name Kei." Amelia handed her money over and took the brown paper bag; the cashier seemed weary of what might happen.
"I don't even understand why you got so up in your feelings about that; all we did was take one of your drawings and put it out so everyone could see." Amelia turned on her heel, poking Kei in the chest.
"What you guys did was take a drawing that not only had been a personal gift to you but you guys had the nerve to say that it had been drawn by Rei. Rei entered into a contest with that picture of mine. You guys betrayed my trust, used me practically, and then you guys had the nerve to say 'no harm, no foul'. This came after weeks of you guys criticizing my drawing and saying I wasn't even good." Amelia barely kept her voice low and reframed from shouting at him, she did however fail at keep her voice steady and emotion free.
"We're friends and friends help each other out right?" Amelia narrowed her eyes at Kei.
"You publicized something personal without my consent and then you and the others helped Rei plagiarize my artwork." People were turning to look now because Amelia's voice had risen slightly in volume.
"Amelia, not here!" A brown hair girl that had been at the table Kei had sat at was by their side quickly.
"This isn't a public discussion to be having." Amelia cast a glare at the brown haired girl.
"It's not a discussion at all, all I came here for my strawberry muffin. So how about you guys leave me alone?" Amelia's voice easily gave away that she was angry.
Not in the mood to deal with her 'friends' either.
"Bye." Amelia muttered it as she stepped around Kei, trying to leave before someone's temper snapped.
"Hey!" Kei grabbed Amelia's arm, stopping her.
"Don't worry I won't say a freaking word about what you people did but you guys are no longer my friends. Got that?" Amelia ripped her arm out of Kei's grip, settling a glare on him and he actually took a step back.
"Now leave me alone and stop causing a scene, Kei." Amelia said it through gritted teeth, nearly everyone in the café was staring at them now.
"Let's just leave her alone Kei, Amelia's always had a bad temper." Amelia's eye twitched when the brown haired girl said that.
"I don't call the fact that I'm not afraid to stand up for myself and actually fight if someone starts it, a 'bad temper' Rei." If Amelia had a bad temper she would've punched Kei in the face already like she's wanted to since she first found out about what they did.
"Sure, those fights were all 'reasonable'." Rei grabbed Kei's arm when he tried to provoke Amelia.
"Kei, stop it." Amelia took a deep breath and just turned around and left the café.
Amelia pulled out her strawberry muffin and started to eat it. The crowded streets seemed to shift and give room for the angry girl, almost as if some kind of dangerous aura seeped off of her and made people uneasy. As Amelia finished her muffin she had managed to shove the whole scene out of her mind and get to a semi-calm place once again. Throwing her trash away she leant on the wall as she pulled her phone out.
The screen blinked telling her she had a message. She opened the message to find out that it was from her mother.
"Tch." The message was telling Amelia that her father had gone out on a business related trip while her mother had left to go to her sister's, leaving Amelia alone for another month probably since that was how things usually went for Amelia.
"This is why I hate the fact that my dad's a big shot in a company." Amelia was going to put her phone away when it buzzed, another message had appeared – no a call.
Amelia accepted the call and out her phone to her ear. Usually she wouldn't answer for an unknown person but she felt adventurous today plus who knows maybe it was her aunt's number she never cared to program into her phone.
"Hello?" Amelia hadn't expected to hear what she heard. Little did she know that the message she got was the same as Meredith's.
"Do you want to take control of your destiny?" asked the other side. It sounded like a woman with a regal voice.
Amelia was confused, a part of her laughed and was going to hang up but her interest had been caught.
"Yeah." Amelia scanned the crowd, there were a couple of people on their phones but that was usual, she wasn't in an isolated place so she wasn't too worried.
:Meredith:
"Say what?" She asked.
"Take control of your destiny or let it control you."
"Well, I don't want destiny to control me, but..."
The voice cut her off. "Will you play a game to determine your future? Will you play to control your destiny?" Then there was a prompt. A choice of yes or no.
"My destiny…..ooookkkkaaaay…..hmmm…I wonder if a swimsuit and backpack are necessary for this game…ehhh whatever." She hit 'Yes'.
:Amelia:
"Very well, are you prepared to play a game to determine your future? Are you willing to do what it takes to control your destiny?" Amelia pulled her phone from her ear to glance at the caller but found a prompt of 'yes' or 'no'.
"This is getting weird but sometimes weird is fun." Amelia hit the 'yes' button.
The screen changed the moment that Amelia chose yes, text appeared that gave directions.
"Head the train station and an elevator to the basement, once there it is your choice." Amelia frowned.
Basement of the train station? Amelia felt uneasy slightly but something within assured her that she could trust whoever this was and her curiosity burned her. She pushed off of the wall and took off towards the train station, destiny was waiting so why keep it waiting?
:Meredith:
The screen changed and the voice spoke as a map appeared. "Head to the Shibuya train station and take the elevator to the basement."
"When does the train leave?"
"Just head to the station and get to the basement. The train leaves when all are there."
"*Sighs* Well, I guess I could give this a shot. Of course this means I'm going to be late for the swim club," Meredith sighed and began to run down the street only to notice a very familiar face coming along to run beside her. She noticed it was her neighbor.
"Hey, did you get the message too?" he asked, while panting. "I was fiddling with my phone while at home and I got a yes/no prompt."
"Yea." Meredith simply answered while running alongside him. She lived next-door to him since they were little kids. She knew his little brother was Shinya, because 1: She'd always asked and paid to baby-sit him sometimes because his big brother can't even stand him and 2: She could always hear him getting yelled at by the boy running along next to her.
"Hey, Takuya, do you know what time it is?" Meredith asked.
"It's 5:35 already. Wonder when the train leaves."
And that's when a message popped up on their cell phones. "Take the 5:45 train to Shibuya station."
"Can we make it on time?" asked Meredith.
"If we can run quick enough," before Meredith could respond, Takuya grabbed her wrist and pulled her along with him.
"Hey, what are you're doing Takuya? Lemme go!" Meredith shouted as he pulled her along.
"We'll make it, let's go!" He and Meredith flew down the sidewalk, and right into the open road.
Suddenly, a large truck swung around the corner, plowing towards Meredith and Takuya. Without thinking, the boy pulled himself and girl out of the truck's path.
:Amelia:
Amelia was rather close to the train station so the time that was given wasn't hard to make, in truth it would rather easy to make. The café had only been a five minute walk from the station and Amelia had shortened that walk even farther when she had left eating my muffin. Faintly she wished she had ordered two muffins.
Amelia got through the crowd pretty easily since the crowd wasn't too thick. There were others who had been heading to the elevator but once she gone on an empty one she hit the button to make the doors close and it shut oddly quickly for a public elevator.
"Well now, going to the basement alone might not be good on second thought." Amelia gave a nervous as she watched the elevator descend past the numbers marked on the thing.
"I'm not going to be buried alive am I?" Nervous laughter bubbled out of Amelia.
:Meredith:
"Are you two okay?" The truck driver was shaken up.
"Yeah. We're fine," Takuya and Meredith got up and looked at their cell phones. "Oh no. Hey buddy what time is it?"
The truck driver glanced at his watch. "What? Uh...couple before 5:45!"
With that Takuya started pulling Meredith along down the street once again.
"Takuya!" Even at his name Takuya didn't slow down.
"Do you want to make it or not Meredith!?"
"Well of course I do!"
"Well then we have to get going!" At that Takuya only ran faster, if that was even possible.
The two of them rushed towards the train station, hoping to beat time since time wasn't on their side at all. Their destiny was on the line here after all!
:Amelia:
Amelia groaned when the elevator stopped not so nicely.
"I dare my parents to still call my fear of elevators stupid after taking that ride." Amelia muttered the words and the doors opened, much to her relief to reveal a platform instead of dirt or any signs of being buried alive.
"It's up to you now. Which one will you choose?" Amelia glanced at her phone.
"Any advice?" Glancing away from her phone she stepped out of the elevator, there were so many trains so how was she supposed to know which one would lead to her destiny?
"Choose wisely." Amelia sighed but looked over the trains before deciding on one.
:Meredith:
Before they knew it, they were at the train station.
"Meredith," Takuya gulped, "We don't have money."
"Rats!"
But then their luck turned. The machine that gave you the train tickets was malfunctioning, and shot out tickets everywhere. Takuya grabbed two as he continued pulling Meredith along. She looked up at a clock, only to go into panic mode because they had only one minute left to get on the Shibuya bound from the Jiyuugaoko station. She felt him tighten his grip on her wrist as he started moving faster. She saw the train that was in their view, and before she could even realize what was exactly going on, Takuya jumped through the doors, pulling Meredith along with him. Amazingly, they made it without hurting anybody, or themselves.
"I can't... believe... we made it!" Takuya panted as they sat down.
"Me... neither!" Meredith breathed.
The train was packed like sardines as more people flowed in. Phones begin going off all over the place, including the boy in front of Meredith and Takuya. He was tall with light skin and blackish-blue hair in a ponytail and was standing there. He stared at Meredith with apathy and curiosity, respectively.
She turned her head away from him feeling uncomfortable.
"So what's with the swimsuit and backpack?" She heard Takuya ask.
"Well, I was on my way to swim practice, when I got the message to come to the station."
"Going to the train station in a swimsuit, that's kinda weird." Takuya's words rubbed Meredith the wrong way.
"What do you say?!" Meredith's raised voice caught some people's attention.
People either gave disapproving looks, annoyed looks, or empathetic looks. Takuya gave a smile and a somewhat nervous laughter.
"Transfer to the 6 o'clock westbound train." Both Meredith and Takuya looked at their phones before looking at each other.
"Do I even want to ask what time it is?" Takuya looked around but he both noticed that the blackish-blue haired boy had also looked at his phone but then Meredith saw a watch.
"It's 5:54." Meredith spoke the words, sounded bothered.
"COME ON! GIMME A BREAK! I'M DOING THE BEST I CAN!" Everyone once again looked at them but this time at Takuya who had shouted. He grabbed his head in frustration.
:Amelia:
Amelia looked around the platform before getting on her chosen train. There were quite a lot of people there but oddly she couldn't spot any adults. There weren't even any train conductors, as far as she could see.
"Where do these trains even go?" Amelia looked down the tunnel but it was black, pitch black.
"Why do I have to fear the unknown?" Amelia gave a nervous laugh before stepping on the train.
Amelia began to walk through the train, looking for any signs of any other passengers or if the trains were regularly used which she doubted since she hadn't even been aware this floor had existed.
:Meredith:
The doors opened and Meredith was once again pulled by the wrist and running to the wherever they were going. They ran into an elevator as the doors shut. They rubbed their faces and groaned.
"That hurt!" Meredith moaned. Then she and Takuya looked up to see the boy who was on the train. With a disapproving face the boy turned away from the pair.
"Man, what's his problem?" Meredith asked Takuya.
"I don't know but I wonder if he got a text as well. Hey, buddy. Did you get a text as well?" Takuya asked the boy.
The boy ignored him.
"JEEZ, you could at least answer him." Meredith blurted, annoyed.
The boy ignored her too. When suddenly the elevator shook and began to descend faster.
"No way," said Meredith, as she watched the floor indicator go pass the bottom floor mark.
Turning to look out the elevator window to see the elevator had continued to fall past the floor and into darkness.
"If this is my destiny, then it's starting to suck," voiced Takuya.
The elevator stopped but its landing wasn't kind – at all. Takuya moaned as the doors opened rubbing his head.
"Man. I really got to stop landing on my head." Takuya looked at Meredith when she nudged him.
"Takuya, look at that." Takuya looked, now staring at the platform of trains that were spread out in front of them.
"Woah, so weird." There was a crackle of static before a voice came through.
"It's up to you now. Which one will you choose?" At the voice their mystery companion left the elevator.
"Uh. Hey! Which one are you choosing? Geez, my phone talks more than that guy." Takuya stood up while Meredith nodded as she too stood up.
"Let's go!" Takuya grabbed Meredith's wrist, once more.
He dragged her towards the one that was already leaving.
"Takuya, we're not gonna make it!" the redhead shouted, and only to be proven wrong as he pulled them both up on the back of it.
As Takuya was catching his breath, he caught something moving in front of him. Looking up, he saw the same boy from the elevator on a different train, seemingly glaring at them as if they were less than he was. The goggle-head gave a small glare back, then a wall suddenly appeared between them and Takuya snapped back to his senses.
"So what now, Takuya?" Meredith asked.
"I don't know, I didn't think this far ahead." He replied.
"Way to go, Takuya. Well wherever we're going, we'll get there pretty quickly." Meredith stated while leaning on the guardrail.
Takuya then dragged the girl through a door that led inside the train they boarded.
"There's no one here." Takuya observed blankly, "It's like a ghost train in here..." He trailed off, "WHAT IF IT IS!?"
"What are you trying to do, scare me?" asked Meredith, annoyed.
:Amelia:
Amelia grabbed one of the poles to stop herself from falling when the train started to move. Yet unbeknownst to the crimson haired girl there was now another occupant on the train with her. The other occupant, a bluish black haired boy had entered the train from the back and was now walking through the train.
Since Amelia had reached to the front of the train she went back through the train since she hadn't actually looked the last car that belonged to the train.
"Great, a ghost train, no one's on here." Amelia entered crossed into a car and began towards the door to the next.
"On a train to who knows where by myself, with no cell signal either." Amelia had pulled her phone checking for a signal as she opened the door.
Stepping through the door without looking lead to her bumping into someone. The boy she bumped into jumped back startled slightly while Amelia had also jumped back but she stumbled, holding her phone out as if it was some kind of weapon. The two stared at each other, looking the other over trying to access what was going on. Neither of them had expected to find another living person.
"Who are you?" Amelia asked the question, relaxing slightly but she was still on high alert because now she wasn't just alone but alone with someone she didn't even know and no one had a clue where she was.
Watching a marathon of horror movies the night before probably didn't help Amelia any in this situation either.
The boy didn't respond to Amelia's question and Amelia narrowed her eyes, not wanting to be stuck on a train to possibly horror land with someone she didn't even know the name of.
"We're stuck on this stupid train so at least give me your freaking name!" Amelia snapped and the boy sighed.
"Koji Minamoto." Amelia nodded and crossed her arms.
"I'm Amelia Chasen." Sighing she looked him over, he looked bored and indifferent.
"One last question before I leave you alone, you also here because of a message?" Koji stared for a couple seconds before nodding.
"Alright, so we're here for the same reason but chose this train for different reasons probably." Amelia sighed and turned around, going to leave Koji alone since he obviously wasn't one for talking.
"I'll leave you to yourself." Amelia plopped herself down in a seat close to the door, she wanted some time to see what was at the end of the tunnel before the train stopped after all.
The door closed but Koji had sat down in the same car but at the other end. Neither said anything more but the silence that settled wasn't awkward. Amelia lent her head back on the glass, staring out the window into the darkness.
"Just figure I tell you before you decide to look, there's nothing else on this train, it's the same thing in every car and we're the only two on the train." Koji just gave a hum in acknowledgement, looking out the window himself.
:Meredith:
They kept running only to open another door. There, they were met by 3 other kids. One was in a blue jumpsuit, and was kinda chunky. The other was a blonde girl who was wearing a lavender skirt and well…the whole outfit was basically lavender. And then there was a kid who looked younger than the rest of them. Probably 8 or 9, and he was wearing a big yellow hat that was shadowing some of his face, but Meredith could clearly see that he was crying.
Holding up his phone Takuya asked, "Are you guys here about the phone thing, too?"
"Hmm…" The girl in lavender nodded her head in agreement. Turning to face the big guy in blue, who was eating on a chocolate bar, spoke. "With these two that makes five."
"Is there something special about 5?" Meredith asked.
"Something special? Like what!? "Takuya questioned." Anyway, why'd you guys get on the train?"
"It was the message wasn't it?" Meredith interrupted.
The boy then said angrily, "Look, kid, this was the closest train. Okay? Now just leave me alone."
Meredith looked up to see Takuya's face, which was scrunched up in shock and anger of how rude the kid was to him. All in all, he didn't take the jumpsuit dudes' reply to well. "Geez. Sorry."
"What about you, why'd you get in this train?" Meredith asked the girl in purple.
"I'm like him." she giggled, "It was closest to the elevator."
"Hey honey, you want some chocolate. I'm J.P what's yours?" Meredith rolled her eyes while Takuya eyed J.P.
Meredith then walked away from her spot next to Takuya, and went and sat down next the little boy with the yellow hat.
"Hey, little guy, you ok?" She asked in sweet, yet quiet tone.
"So my name's JP," he said, standing up pushing Takuya to the side. "What's yours?"
"I'm Zoe, it's nice to meet you." Zoe answered.
"And I'm Takuya," Takuya said, excitedly. Everyone got quiet again. Meredith looked up to see everyone else's face on her.
"Well…?" Takuya asked questioningly.
"Huh…? Oh! Sorry, my name's Meredith! It's nice to meet all of you!" She said with a smile. Then she turned her head to the crying boy. "What's your name?"
" I'm... I'm Tommy but I didn't want to get on this train. "The crying boy said in a half crying voice.
" What are you saying?" Takuya asked Tommy.
"I... I... Two kids... bullies... pushed me on the train and shut the door. Why are kids always picking on me?!" Tommy was just crying freely by this point.
"It's ok, Tommy. We won't pick on you." Meredith assured him.
"Jeez, the kid's like a faucet," JP said nonchalantly.
"JP!" Zoe exclaimed with a little shock in her voice.
"Hey, it's ok. We're here to take care of you! I promise you, I won't let anything happen to you when we get to wherever we're going. I'll take care of you and that's a promise!" Meredith said happily, her voice filled with determination. She was rubbing her hand up and down the little boys back, trying to calm him down.
The train made rumbling sound and then the lights went out. The ride became bumpier, like the train was rolling over rocks, knocking everyone over. For a split second, after hitting a bench, Takuya noticed shapes around himself and the others. Looking down at his hand he sees his phone glowing, as he lifts it towards his face it begins to emit a high-pitched sound. The phone began to glow brightly and changed its shape.
"What's...going on?" Takuya asked himself.
"Welcome to the Digital World, Takuya. This is your D-Tector." The voice from before has explained.
"Digital World? You're kidding," he responded. "What have I gotten myself into?"
Finally, the light flooded back inside the train. Then Takuya started to talk again. "Did you guys get that message?" No one said anything as they stared at their 'used to be phones' in awe.
"Woo-Woo WOO-WOO!"
The kids let out a cry of pain as they covered their sensitive ears to try and block out whatever was making the loud noise.
"You could hear that up on Mars!" exclaimed Takuya. "Man."
"Are those ghosts?" Zoe asked looking out the window.
"Look like it," Tommy added.
"Or marshmallows, they'd go great with chocolate." J.P. said.
One of the ghost-like creatures, made eye contact with Zoe. After a few seconds the small creature made a creepy face against the window, causing Zoe to scream. Her scream scared all the ghost creatures away.
"Probably ghosts of kids that came before us." Takuya said as he watched the ghosts fly away. "What have I gotten myself into, and what if there is no way to get myself out?"
"Takuya, calm down, I'm sure those weren't ghost of kids, but they were kind of creepy." Meredith said. "But what if he's right and there is no way back?"
The train let out a large bellow, and then they stopped as the door swung open.
Everyone gathered around the door to look outside to see what it looked like. In front of them, were whole bunches of weird looking white creatures. What made it even creepier was that they could talk.
"Humans! Yes! Someone to play with! Just don't hurt them this time!"
Everyone was unnerved, oh so much. Meredith moved from her spot from next to Takuya and hid behind him. Just then, an unknown force pushed the kids out of the train and into the middle of the creepy monsters, which luckily, they didn't land on.
"Hehehe. First step's a doosie. Hehehe." The voice came what seemed to be the train as the kids tried to orientate their selves after being pushed out the train and landing in a dog pile pretty much.
"Is it just me, or did that train just talk?" Takuya's question got everyone's attention.
"I think you hit your head again Takuya." Meredith was rubbing her head by stopped when she heard the laugh.
"Hey. I'm not just any old train. I'm Trailmon. And I'm alive, thank you very much though I am more handsome than you scrunched up little pugs. Any who, this here is Flame Terminal you're in the heart of a Digimon village." Now the attention was from the mystery creepy monsters and on the train.
"Digimon village?" Takuya was confused while the others looked at the creatures in front of them or at the train.
"We are pals." The creatures were cut off when Tommy burst out in tears again.
"I didn't even wanna be on this train. Wah!" The Trailmon looked towards them the best he could.
"Sorry you feel bad kiddo, but I can't stick around. If you wanna go home you'll have to find a Spirit or something."
"What's a spirit and where do we even get one!" Zoe's questioning the train was met with no helpful answer.
"Hey where are you going!"
"Hey yourself! I gotta schedule to keep!" With that the Trailmon was gone.
"Well I guess that's it, we're all alone." Meredith shot a look at Takuya before looking at the creepy things that seemed to have gotten closer.
"Unless you count those things that is." Que Tommy crying a bit harder before standing up.
"Take me home!" Tommy ran off after yelling that.
"Hey wait, don't go off by yourself!" Tommy was off the platform and running down the rails.
Takuya jumped off the platform before running after Tommy. Yelling at him to stop yet Tommy didn't stop. Seeing as they weren't going to stop Meredith jumped off the platform and ran after them.
"I feel like we're gonna spend our time rescuing the baby."
"Shut up J.P.!" Meredith yelled it back as she continued to chase after Takuya and Tommy, leaving J.P. and Zoe with the creepy monsters on their own.
"Tommy!" Takuya's call made Meredith stop, grateful she did or she could've run off the edge of seemingly the world.
Tommy was now pulling a tightrope stunt pretty much and walking along the train railing that had no ground around it or even below in as far as the eye could see. For a seemingly scared boy he was pretty brave to go walking out on that by himself. Well that or his tears went to his head.
"Go away!" Tommy shouted the words as he continued on crying and walking along the tight rope.
"This isn't helping Tommy!" Meredith shouted.
"Yeah you're gonna fall!" Takuya shouted the words but Tommy didn't stop.
"At least I won't be here anymore." Tommy continued on and both Takuya and Meredith were getting desperate to figure out what to do to get Tommy to come back.
"W-we'll take you home, right Takuya?" Meredith glanced Takuya.
"That's right. Trailmon said that if we find the Spirit, we can go home right?" Tommy stops and looks back to Takuya and Meredith.
"Right. Okay, I'm coming back." As Tommy attempts to turn around he loses his balance.
Yet he must've had 'destiny' on his side since he managed to hug the railing and save himself from plummeting into the grey clouds covering whatever the fall had to offer. Takuya was going to go and get Tommy but the eruption of green flames off to the side made him pause.
"Oddly colored fire is never good." Meredith's words were accompanied by suddenly two things just start running towards them, the shorter one complaining about something.
"Help!" Takuya was tackled to the ground and Meredith's shoulders dropped; they were arguing about humans.
"It's a human."
"You think everything's a human."
"We're humans, you're the odd ones." The two odd things looked at Meredith but anything they would've said was cut off by a growl and a black mass being able to be seen through the fire.
"What is that?" Tommy let out a whimper, not wanting to be forgotten out on the steel beam.
"I don't think we wanna know." Yet of course the short thing decided to do introductions.
"A bad dog, Cerberumon, his special attack in Emerald Blaze and that's why we need your help."
"Where is the ancient spirit?" 'Cerberumon' didn't look happy one bit.
"Guess going home won't be that easy." Meredith words only made Tommy start crying, yet again.
"I can sense the spirit's presence I must destroy it."
"You can't have it! It's mine! I uh." Takuya's words only made the two things that were behind him shake.
"Then you shall be destroyed along with it! Emerald Blaze!" Que angry monster spewing green fire at them.
"What are you crazy?! Run already!" One of the two things yelled.
"Yea but where are we supposed to go?" Takuya shouted while Meredith was moving already.
"Anywhere but here! Whoa!" Takuya jumped over the blast and ran towards to Tommy.
"Emerald Blaze!" Green flames were coming toward Meredith, but something knocked her out of the way before she could get hit. She fell to the ground and looked back over to see Takuya looking at her. "Meredith, get Tommy!" he shouted.
"But what about you?!" She asked worriedly. She couldn't lose Takuya… he was her only friend she had with her.
"I have an idea so just get Tommy!" Takuya shouted the words at Meredith.
Meredith didn't hesitate and she was already running down the tracks where Tommy was clutching on for his dear life.
She grabbed him and turned around and started to run back to Takuya. But before she could even get on the solid ground, the tracks disappeared, and she started falling. She threw Tommy at Takuya's open arms, and thankfully he caught him. She grabbed onto the ledge of ground and was hanging there helplessly. He stood there for a moment telling Tommy to go found the others and stay with them.
"Takuya! HELP ME!" Meredith screamed as she felt her hand begin to slip of the ledge.
"Where is the spirit!" Cerbumon exclaimed, just as if to make the situation even worse.
"Meredith!" Takuya grabs her hand before she falls and he starts to pull her up.
Pulling her up and wasn't exactly hard but Takuya had to keep an eye on Cerbumon as well. He pulled her up next to him. Meredith was shaking but after what happened she couldn't help it, and she started to cry as well.
"Hey, it's ok, you're ok." Takuya wrapped his arms around her.
Cerbumon starts towards him, taking advantage of their absolute helplessness, "EMERALD BLAZE!"
Takuya and Meredith tried to jump away, but they went the wrong way and fell to another part of the terminal. As they landed, both their D-tectors fell out and started beeping.
"What's going on?" Takuya and Meredith looked at their D Tectors as Takuya asked the question.
"I don't know and I don't think we have time to think!" Cerbumon had jumped down and joined the two of them.
"Hey, my D-Tector." Takuya's D-Tector was pointing at a big bonfire thing that turned into a bea of light.
"It's the spirit!" The words were growled out by Cerbumon.
"The Spirit? That wasn't so hard. Time to go home!" Takuya grinned while Meredith noticed that Cerbumon was getting ready to attack once more.
"That's if Cerbumon doesn't get his way, Takuya!"
"That's right, you have no need to worry about that Spirit because I'll destroy it!" Cerbumon starts running towards Takuya and Meredith.
Takuya grabs a convenient metal pole while Meredith stood up, still a bit shaky.
"This ranks pretty high on the list of stupid." Takuya tried to block Cerbumon but needless to say it didn't work.
"The Spirit, Takuya!"
"How am I supposed to get it, and what do I do with it when I do?!" Cerbumon tried to jump over Takuya, but Takuya grabbed onto his tail, getting dragged with Cerbumon into the light that the Spirit was within.
"Get out of the way human or suffer my wrath!" Takuya had be thrown to the ground in front of the Spirit.
"No!" Meredith bit her lip as she watched Cerbumon raise his claw but before he could stike Takuya he started to burn.
"Ahhh! The Spirit's power!" Cerbumon jumped out of the light.
"Oww! That hurt!" Unlike Cerbumon, Takuya hadn't been harmed at all and he stood within the light perfectly fine.
"Wha, I'm fine." Takuya looked at the Spirit and something seemed to come over him.
"Ancient Spirit." Something forms and it walks towards Takuya.
"SPIRIT!" Takuya's D-Tector flies over to him and the 'Spirit' goes into his D-Tector.
"It is time." The voice sounded out of his D-Tectors.
"EXECUTE; SPIRIT EVOLUTION!"
The warrior's armor began to appear around Takuya before is fused on his body. He then turned around, the fire that hid his eyes disappeared to reveal sky blue eyes instead of auburn brown. Jumping down onto a platform, he gave two fiery punches and yelled out his name, completing his Spirit Evolution.
"AGUNIMON!"
Fire surrounded Takuya and when it cleared the gogglehead didn't stand there anymore, at least not looking like himself any more. Where Takuya had been was someone wearing red and gold armor, silver type gauntlets on his hands and feet, and long spiky blonde hair.
Meredith stared at 'Agunimon', surprised.
"What is this? A human turned into a Digimon?!" Cerbumon was surprised but his surprise didn't stop him from getting prepared to attack Agunimon.
"It doesn't matter who you are though! You'll still lose!" Cerbumon jumped at Agunimon.
"Emerald Blaze!" Agunimon managed to dodge the attack and struck Cerbumon with his own attack, Pyro Tornado.
Cerbumon was forced backwards and looked defeated. Agunimon turned towards Meredith after a couple of seconds but the moment he looked away Cerbumon was up and jumped by Cerbumon. Cerbumon now had Agunimon pinned to the ground.
'No! TAKUYA! I gotta help somehow... but... how?' Meredith's thoughts were interrupted by screaming.
'No... my friends... they all need me... I have to do something. I promised I'd protect Tommy... how can I help everyone?!'
Cerbumon's attention snapped to Meredith and Agunimon stared, surprised, water had shot up out of nowhere and swallowed Meredith. The geyser had swallowed Meredith whole and her D Tector that had laid forgotten on the ground glowed and just as it had happened with Takuya the water turned to light and her D-Tector flew to her. There was another spirit. A turquoise-skinned woman, with long, regal pale blue hair. She smiled, and suddenly:
"It is time."
"EXECUTE SPIRIT EVOLUTION!"
The armor fused with Meredith, changing her. She then turned around; the water that hid her eyes disappeared to show red eyes replacing sapphire blue ones. Spinning into a cannonball, she fell down onto the platform, she landed then stood up, threw her arms back with water coming from the back and yelled out her name, completing her Spirit Evolution.
"SAKANAMON!"
'Sakanamon' was surrounded by the geyser and broke it apart.
She ran toward Agunimon to help him before he was pummeled into a Digimon pulp. The Digimon that was attacking was fixing to make a blow to Agunimon's head, but he stopped when Sakanamon shouted at him.
"Hey, ugly! Leave my buddy there alone or I'll make you regret you even messed with him! Turquoise Rain!" A cloud appeared above Cerbumon and it quickly sapped his strength away.
Agunimon took this chance to kick Cerbumon off of him. Agunimon got up but Cerbumon was up and on his feet, granted it was a little shaky but he refused to stay down.
"Human children will not defeat me! Portals of Darkness!" As the portals opened both Agunimon and Sakanamon tried to jump to get away from them but it was useless because they only managed to land in one of them.
"Now you two are on my turf - darkness!" Cerbumon was weakened though so he wasn't as quick as he wanted to be which allowed Sakanamon a chance to do something after the first attack that hit Agunimon.
"Tempest Whirlpool!" The 'attack' shielded Agunimon and Sakanamon from another attack, and the blocked attack lead to Cerbumon was caught up in the whirlpool and flung after a couple of seconds.
"Pyro Tornado!" Agunimon's attack sent Cerbumon flying and they managed to get out of the darkness.
Cerbumon tried to move but he didn't have the strength to move at all. The combination of Turquoise Rain having sapped his strength and the two attacks he had taken left him with barely enough strength to even lift his head.
"H-how could human children defeat me?" Some kind of ring showed up around Cerbumon.
"Now to take the Fractal Code. Fractal Code, DIGITIZE!"
Agunimon's D-tector collected Cerberumon's data before he and Sakanamon de-digivoled back to their human selves.
Takuya was panting hard. "Wow, that's tiring. But wha... what happened? How'd I know how to do all that stuff?"
"What did... Happen?" wondered Meredith, looking exhausted.
"You are digidestined," said the voice from their D-tectors.
"We're what now?" Takuya remarked.
"Digidestined. You are chosen for great things." The voice respond but Takuya was slightly unsettled.
"Why me?"
"Do not be frightened for you have chosen yourself." That surprised Takuya and Meredith who was listening in.
"I chose myself?" Takuya was surprised.
"What does this mean?" asked Meredith.
"I don't know, but I guess this means we're not going home," answered Takuya.
As Takuya and the others were busy with the aftermath of the battle with Cerberumon another Trailmon was arrives at the station, this train being the one that Koji and Amelia were on.
These guys have no idea of what they've gotten themselves into, but I'll bet you know. Find out on the next Digimon, Digital Monsters.
