"How's it coming, Don?"

"Just another minute, Leo. I'm almost there." Don's hands moved frantically, rearranging the wires that made up the bomb. "This would be so much easier if I had more fingers," he muttered as a wire slipped from his grip.

Leo chuckled from where he was holding off the Foot.

"Don?" Leo's voice was strained, and Don had to fight the instinct to check on his brother.

"I've almost got it. How you doing?"

A cry of pain was his answer, and without thought he took his eyes off the bomb and searched for Leo. The older turtle was standing, but his knee was twisted grotesquely and he was hobbling on one leg, trying to keep the ninja from Don.

"The bomb, Don!" Leo yelled, glancing his way. Don turned back, a worried frown marring his features.

"Don!" Leo was panicked, and that scared him. He had lost his progress and was now working feverishly to finish in time.

"Almost…." He mumbled.

Another cry of pain, this time from the enemy, and suddenly Leo was at his side, limping badly. "They're gone. You got it?"

Don didn't answer but kept working.

"We've got to get out of here. Leave it, Don."

"No, I've almost got it. Just another second."

…0:10

"Let's go!"

"Almost…. There! I got it!"

…0:08

"It's still counting down. What's wrong, Don?"

"I don't know. It shouldn't be…."

…0:05

"Move!" Leo dragged him away, moving entirely too slowly on his bad leg. "Run, Don! Run!" Leo yelled.

…0:03

"I'm not leaving you!"

…0:02

Leo shoved him, hard, sending him over the edge of the roof and to the alley below.

The warehouse exploded. Agony shot through Don's heart and head as he hit the asphalt. His world went black.

For now this is a stand-alone piece. This is the prologue to a story I'm working on (the title will make more sense later, I promise). I'm not going to start posting the story until my others are complete, as it's already taking up way too much of my time and I've neglected my other fics. My hope is that posting this will make it easier for me to focus on my other stories before I turn my attention back to this one. So, for now, this will be marked as complete.
