The Fable of John and the Shiny Pikachu

Let me tell you a story about a trainer named John.

John was a young trainer who was still learning about Pokémon.
With Charmander, he was going to catch them all in this journey they were on.

One day on his journey, John passed through a small town. He realized that he had no Pokéballs.
There was a Pokémart in Viridian. The line was long, but it did carry Pokéballs.

But, foolish Trainer John was eager to return to training his Charmander.
He said, "I don't feel like waiting in line Pokéballs right now. I could always do that later."

And with that, John left the town, and entered the forest.
I will tell you now that that was the biggest mistake of his quest.

Deep in the forest, John came across a Pikachu.
But, this was no ordinary Pikachu.

This was a Shiny Pikachu! A Trainer's bliss!
"Awesome!" he delclared, "I must catch this!"

He sent out his trusty Charmander.
"Charmander, use Ember!" was his order.

Charmander obeyed and used Ember on the Shiny Pikachu.
It was a direct hit, and some damage that attack did do.

But that Shiny Pikachu was not going to go down easy.
It gave Charmander a Thundershock, making him queasy.

Still, John persisted, and it looked like he would win.
"I've got you now!" he declared with a grin.

But poor John realized the awful truth when he looked into his backpack.
He had no Pokeballs to catch the Shiny Pikachu. Ack!

He had no choice but to leave the battle and the Shiny Pikachu.
And no one ever believed what he saw, do you?

The lesson I just taught you is quite simple. Always carry Pokéballs.
