(A/N:) My sweet, sappy, but sad poem for Haldir! *grabs a box of tissues the size of Mt. Doom* Er... anyway........ it was inspired by 1.) My sadness/anger that Haldir was killed off in the movie *glares at Peter Jackson* and 2.) When Aragorn says "Not idly do the leaves of Lórien fall!" It just sorta hit me to use it as a metaphor... so... eh... please Read and Review!! ^.^
Fair Leaf of Lórien: And Ode to Haldir
O Haldir, Marchwarden of the Golden Wood,
Brave defender of the Lady of Light!
You captured my heart as only an elf ever could,
And to gaze upon your fair face, sent my soul into flight!
With loyalty and bravery, and a fair elven face,
And hair that shimmered silver with Ithil and gold with the sun;
With those graceful characteristics of the elven race,
You have awakened my spirit, and my heart you have won!
I remember your expression as the orc-blade fell,
So full of sadness, regret, and fear;
And I longed to hold you close and to tell,
"Do not be afraid, fair one, I'm here."
I will forever and always think of you,
And your memory in my heart shall forever be.
And to you my heart will forever be true,
For both a hero and angel you were to me!
And though your passing will ever cause me to grieve,
I know at least that your death was not in vain;
And for peace in Mandos your soul did leave,
Away from suffering, and that eases my pain.
And if there is one other thing to ease my grief,
At the passing of Haldir, valiant and tall,
Is sharing my faith in Aragorn's belief,
That "Not idly do the leaves of Lórien fall!"
Though never again mallorn leaves will you see fall,
And you will never walk again beside the Nimrodel clear,
Of Lorien's leaves, you are the fairiest of all,
And I shall never forget you, my beloved, Haldir.
Okay... so... maybe I went a little overboard... but... *cough* I pretty much adore Haldir... so... I dunno. *shrugs* I miss him too much!
