THE NEW BOYFRIEND
"Hey Cath."
Nick brushed past Catherine to get to his locker when he noticed the stuffed
toy in her locker, "Lindsey's?"
"Mine." Catherine said with a smile she could hardly contain.
His interest piqued, Nick leaned over to take a better look at the furry toy,
"It's a spider." He said with a confused look.
"Mmhmm." Catherine
nodded, seemingly unaffected by the odd nature of the toy.
Nick shook his head with a chuckle, turning back to his own locker, "Man,
so that makes two guys in this world who would buy
something like that for their girlfriends."
"Two?"
"Yeah. Grissom and whoever gave that to you." Nick grabbed his jacket
and closed his locker, just missing the look on Catherine's face.
"Oh. Right."
"So who's the new guy?"
Catherine smiled but said nothing.
"It's a secret, huh?" Nick nodded understandingly, "Alright, but
I better be the first to know when you're ready to tell."
Catherine chuckled, patting Nick on the shoulder, "I'll see you tomorrow,
Nicky."
"Yeah. Bye Cath." Nick headed out the door
just as Grissom was coming in, "Hey Griss, you should check out
Catherine's gift."
"Why?" Grissom cocked his eyebrow at Catherine.
"Looks like her new boyfriend as the same taste as you." Nick shrugged
innocently, "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye Nick." Grissom watched as Nick headed down the hallway before entering
the locker room, "New boyfriend, huh?"
"Yeah, same taste as you apparently." Catherine shrugged nonchalantly
before closing her locker.
"I wonder why?" Grissom smirked, "He has no idea, does he?"
"Not a clue." Catherine chuckled, shaking her head. She stopped in the
doorway and turned around, holding up the stuffed toy spider in
her hand, "Thanks for this, by the way."
"You're very welcome."
