Ally Dawson glanced at the clock. 4:27 AM.
In the eyes of anyone else she would , have looked exhausted, wiped out, and resembling a raccoon with dark bags under her eyes.
But to Ally, she had never felt more alive.
Ally Dawson was a journalist for the New York Times.
She covered the crime rings that occurred through the country as well as exposing various scandals in the US.
And what could she say, she absolutely loved her job!
Many people, including her best friend/next door apartment neighbor, Trish DeLarosa, thought she was a huge work-a-holic.
But Ally didn't mind. Working helped her think. And honestly, what more could she need in life than her incredible job, right?
Noticing she should probably get ready for work, Ally changed into a form-fitting white dress and shrugged on her signature red leather jacket.
It was still cold in New York City during spring.
And even if it wasn't it was common sense to anyone that knew Ally, she would never leave home without it.
A bustle of energy, Ally ran into Chief Ramone's office.
Looking no doubt frazzled but highly determined Ally couldn't contain her excitement as she exclaimed loudly, "It's done! I've finished it!"
Ramone's looked up from his giant computer almost dropping his cup of coffee in the process. "Finished What?!" He replied in an exasperated, yet thrilled tone.
"The Money Laundering Scandal of Chicago," Ally read,"brought to you by yours truly" she commented passing the printed article to Ramone who, in turn, smiled warmly.
"Dawson, you never cease to amaze me."
Music to her ears. Ally was the best and she knew it. Interviewing suspects and solving crimes was just something she excelled extraordinarily at.
"Ally, you've really outdone yourself, I mean how did you discover that Sandrun Enterprises was linked to the identity theft of Mayor Jones?" Ramone asked.
"Well...I may have done a bit of undercover research…" Ally responded sheepishly. "Dawson…" Ramone scolded softly while smiling.
Only then did see how tired she looked.
"Ally you need rest." "But the article-" "I will personally see that everything gets carried out. Now go home and take the day off."
Ally nodded a bit hesitantly but then turned to leave.
"And don't forget you have an interview tomorrow with the police department for your new article!"
As if he had to remind her. Ally laughed quietly as she got into her green civic and drove 7 blocks home.
