In Between We

Empty laugh – empty heart – empty pillow – empty start; wake up, morning, light through the blinds, brown eyes struggled open, body beside already long awoken.

Sunday night last night, Monday morning blues next; should there hang regret? Just two drops of spilt wine started this again, thoughts of thinking he was stronger fill Tai's mind. Those same two drops which brought them together again, exploded them apart in such a close apartness neither could deduce the mystery.

They'd done the thing kids are naïve to. That dirty thing which many aren't privy. The brunette slid a hand to his still sweaty forehead, feeling muskier than mud – he felt like an unpaid whore.

Those two thrusts, that sigh; then, they died side-by-side.

"Remember when we used to be in love?" Piercing blue stared at the ceiling.

Tai's fingers crawled into a tight fist; pushed down and propped himself up.

"Let's not start this again!" He yelled, to the side-ways Matt.

"I'll just be going, then" The blonde threatened, escaping the bed; his naked body quickly slow was gaining clothes.

"Really, Matt, just walk out the damn door, because you know that nothing is what we are, anymore"

The pale frame chucked a coat on, slung his backpack gracefully over and turned completely aloud.

"Goodb-"

A run, push and slam against the nearest wall; pain nervously happened between them – probably a fresh bruise on their backs and fronts – Tai pushed his lips heavily upon the blonde's, not caring of his lungs' needs.

"But say goodbye to me tomorrow" The brunette's heart gave in, and watched Matt's nod, and disappear.

Tai was weak after that.

"Go and see the others, I don't think anything of it" His tears in his eyes lied as best they could, but dropped and only honesty remained.

21 days later;

"Do you think that you're finally able to say to me that you really want us to be friends?" Matt spoke freely.

"You really must want me to think you kind; I already have lots of friends, I will therefore not have anything more to hear from you" Tai exposed his nakedness, whisking from their sheets and into clothing his body quickly.

"I guess I'll be going, then"

"You know that nothing ever truly goes"

Tai slowly walked against the door, waiting.

"But say goodbye to me tomorrow?" He tried, tears filling behind over.

"But say goodbye to me on the way" Matt moved to the woodenness, opened a Tai-shaped gap.

Close, up against a suspecting wall; lips almost to lips, then; nothing.

"I loved you and I assure you it's the end.
