Intimacy
The light brush of her fingertips against his hand as he passed her the report spoke volumes to Jack and made his flesh yearn for the touch to be more, even when it shouldn't. And when he knew perfectly well it couldn't.
It was just their way of intimacy, he guessed. Lingering touches and looks…
The only intimacy they'd ever have.
He prayed no one would ever notice, and luckily, no one had figured it out yet. No one really ever noticed the couple's subtle touches and lingering looks. No matter how much Jack and Sam tried to keep those touches and looks from happening, it was impossible. There had to be some sort of special connection between them… that they couldn't deny.
"Jack?" Daniel's voice from the other end of the table broke into his thoughts.
Realizing he was still staring at Sam's hand, Jack quickly snapped back to the here and now. "Yeah, sorry. What were you saying?"
