Chapter one: the Reaping. Nagisa's POV
I am standing in the square surrounded by my friends. My boyfriend, Tomoya is holding my hand tightly.
"It'll be okay Nagisa. You'll be okay." Tomoya says to me. I squeeze his hand tighter when I see Effie Trinket come on stage.
"Welcome one and all to the first quarter quell of our annual hunger games! May the odds be ever in your favor!" Effie called into the microphone. "two ladies will be called this year! There is a long moment. of silence as she reaches into the bowl with the girls names. If anyone one of my friends get called, it better be Tomoyo or Kyou. They can easily win. "Nagisa Furukawa!" My heart drops. Though I'm 18, I'm small and weak.
Everything is a blur as make my way to the stage. I hear and see nothing. I sudden;y return to reality. When I do, I am not on the stage, I'm standing next to Tomoya, who's arm is around me. Instead of me, on stage is Tomoyo and Kyou.
"What happened?" I ask.
"Tomoyo volunteered to take your place and Kyou's name was called." Kotomi answered from behind me. I start to sob as the peacekeepers take Tomoyo and Kyou to the justice building.
