Silence ruled.

Everyone was asleep in their habitat. Even the security guard was passed out in his chair. Everyone was dreaming. Well….Everyone except Private, who was on watch for that night. His eyes were getting heavier by the second as he was trying to think of a way to stay awake.

Private: So…tired…..must…stay awake must…fulfill duties….I….(zzzzzzz)…lunacorn…..AAAAH! MUST STAY AWAKE….. KEEP WATCH For anything ….suspicious…or….(yawn)…..dangerous…(zzz)

He, too, fell into a deep sleep and even snoring...not trying to revive himself.

*meanwhile in Marlene's habitat*

For some reason, Marlene couldn't stay asleep. She tried almost everything to get her to sleep, but wouldn't work.

Marlene: (thoughts) Ugh….Grr….WHAT IS WRONG? I'm not sick, but I'm restless I'm not hot, as a matter of fact, it's pretty cool outside. Well, there's nothing else I can do but try again, I guess… maybe I just feel something's going to happen…something bad… What the hell is that honking noise? Just ignore it Marlene, just ignore it.

She, then, tried to sleep and at that time succeeded. She, and of course Private, Were now asleep, like the rest of the zoo.

Xeroxas' POV

I could hear the music in the background. The man driving the truck was trying to keep up and sing along with the song on the radio. He sounded awfully intoxicated. I could feel him running across the corners as he turned on the not-so-busy streets of Manhattan backroads. It was almost pitch black in the back of the truck where my cage was placed. My tail wouldn't stop shaking because I was so nervous. I'm usually calm, very calm as a matter of fact, but the way he was driving… I didn't know if I would survive this, let alone this ''new zoo'' place my old keeper was talking about. God, I miss her already. On my left side, I had felt the small book I had snuck in with me. I held on to it and with my other paw, I held on to the side of the cage I was sitting in, hoping nothing would go wrong. I had a bad feeling about this from the start. Something inside of me told me to run away when I had the chance… I had found a small hole towards the front of the vehicle through my cage. I climbed up close enough to look through it. It was blurry for a minute, but when I focused on the man's GPS, it said: Central Park Zoo, 0.3 Miles ahead. I felt completely uneasy about it. All I could do then was wait and watch, until I heard something hit the horn. Hard. He was out cold. Completely unconscious. Looking through the windshield, we were heading for a gate at 64 miles an hour. My life, considering how short I lived, flashed before my eyes.
