"Oliver! How in Merlin's pants did you get in here?" was what woke Alicia Spinnet one Saturday morning in December. Glancing over, she saw the furious Angelina Johnson sitting up, arms crossed. Oliver Wood was standing beside Angelina's bed, holding her pillow and looking suddenly unsure of himself. Then his face brightened.

"Quidditch practice!" he shouted. "Everyone else is waiting downstairs already."

Alicia yawned and turned over, "Oliver, it's barely five-thirty. Come back when the sun is up." Oliver flicked his wand and Alicia's pillow vanished from beneath her head and went soaring out the door with Angelina's. "I also have your wands here," he said, "if you want them, come downstairs dressed and ready to go."

With that, their crazy captain strolled out of the room and back down to the common room. With Percy's help, he had found a protective charm that kept the slide from activating at his touch. When Oliver had asked for his help, Percy had just rolled his eyes but followed his best mate to the library. Even though this was against the rules, Percy knew Oliver would only use the spell for Quidditch purposes. The Keeper was simply oblivious to girls (and the handful of blokes who thought he was cute).

When he arrived in the common room, it was deserted but there was a new note on the notice board in Harry's handwriting.

Dear Oliver,

We have gone back to bed and will see you down on the pitch at 7:30. Katie is sleeping in Lee's bed while he is in the hospital wing with the flu.

See you then,

Harry, Fred, George, Katie

There was a clatter behind him. Angelina and Alicia were reading the note over Oliver's shoulder. "Well then," Angelina said, "see you later Wood." With that, the two girls turned around and went back upstairs.

Oliver ripped the note off the wall and stormed up the boys' staircase to his own dorm. Percy was sitting up and stretching his arms. "I thought you had practice," he yawned. Oliver just shoved the note in Percy's face. "I won't say you didn't have it coming," Percy smirked and patted Oliver's arm before strolling into the bathroom.
