"No!" He shouted in distress.
Drago grinned darkly at him as he slowly released Astrid. She slumped to the ground clutching her stomach.
"I warned you Hiccup. You would regret going against ne." He sneered.
Hiccup could only stare in horror at the blood soaked broadsword that Drago kept in front of him.
"Astrid!" He begged running forward as Drago disappeared into the brush.
He slid into the dirt holding her up as she coughed and shook.
"Hiccup," she said weakly.
"Shh don't talk." He said gripping her tightly.
Blood was flowing freely from her wound and she was so pale. He ripped of part of his tunic and tied it around her stomach. The blood quickly soaked through. She was just so pale though.
Pale as the snow that drenched the earth in a mere few weeks. He brushed bavk hwr blonde hair as she cried. Astrid never cried. It was so strange so foriegn to see red rimmed eyes and tears streamung down her face.
He looked up hearing Toothless barrel into the clearing. The dragons had gotten separated when the Hunters had launched spears that exploded.
"Hurry bud we have to get her out of here!" Hiccup shouted as he lifted his girlfriend.
Astrid screamed at the movement and he hesitated. Berk was only an hour flight away but could they make it? He bit his lip as he took in the massive blood loss. Toothless growled in confusion and Astrid looked at him.
"Tale care of Stormfly" she choked out. "Please."
"Astrid no." He begged cupping her cheek.
"I can't go." She said.
"Astrid please." Hiccup could feel his own tears running now.
"I'll tell your dad. How incredible you've been." She smiled her lips bloody.
"No no!" Hiccup begged as he pressed another cloth over her wound.
"I love you." She said reaching up to cup his cheek. "I always did."
"You're gonna be ok." He said more convincing himself then her.
Her hands were so cold. As cold as the ice of the King of Dragons.
"Promise me you'll take me back." She begged shaking even more now. "I have to be with my family."
Hiccup could only nod through his tears. Astrid family was buried on Berk. They had been killed years ago in battle with the Red Death.
Toothless touched his about to Astrids side and she smiled weakly.
"You better take care of this guy." She coughed out. "Berk will be left on fire if someone doesn't keep him in check."
Toothless whined sitting on all fours as he helped support Astrid. She closed her eyes and Hiccup kissed her forehead.
"Please don't go." He murmurred.
"I can hear it Hiccup." She whispered. "I can hear Valhalla."
Hiccup gently moved her more into hos lap as she looked at him one last time.
"Its so beautiful." She said as she dropped her hand from his cheek.
"Astrid." he croaked out.
"I love you Hiccup." She said softly and closed her eyes.
And Hiccup sobbed.
He sobbed clutching her cold and bloody body as Toothless wailed.
He sobbed as Stormfly charged in ready to defend her rider.
He sobbed as the other riders arrived fresh and victorious from battle and more as they realized thier loss.
And he sobbed more as he carried her lifeless body over the ocean of thier first date with only the moonlight to guide them home.
