"Hello James, old friend.", Oswald's mouth curled at the corners as his chuckle echoed through the room.

Gordon stood up slowly, his eyebrows furrowed but his face remained a mask. He spoke quietly and evenly, "Oswald. How nice to see you again. Excuse me Barbara, I just need to have a quick chat outside with..my friend."

Barbara Kean nodded her head slowly and glanced between the two.

Gordon walked towards the door, pulling his coat off the hanger and the hanger almost off the wall in the process. Oswald's smile slightly faltered as Gordon grabbed his arm and swung him around while he stormed out of the apartment. The hand tightened around his arm as he was rushed down the stairs until they reached an exit to the terrace. The door slammed the same time Oswald was shoved against the wall.

He was pinned down by Gordon's strong arms (extremely muscular and strong arms..). The detective's hands grabbed onto his collar and he pulled their faces closer together until their noses practically brushed against each other. He yelled ferociously into Cobblepot's face," I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU NEVER TO COME BACK HERE?!" The anger was evident in his eyes and Oswald was gasping for breath. His hands shook violently as he attempted to form words.

"P-p-please listen to me. Listen to me for a minute!"

Gordon had calmed down just enough to respond without fatally harming him, "Why the hell would I listen to you! I saved your life and my ass when I pushed you into the river, what do you want?"

"I know a way to help us both. If we just combine forces we can take down Maroni and Falcone! I'm working in a restaurant for Maroni as manager and if I give you information h-he could be taken down.", Oswald desperately stated.

Gordon loosened his grip on his collar and let him slide down the wall to make it possible for him stand again.

"If I even..if I even considered what you're asking and we get caught, I will be kicked off the force or killed by Maroni's men. I will not be fucked over by you! Isn't snitching what got you caught last time?" Gordon finally let go completely and walked away as Oswald fell to the ground.

Gordon rubbed his face with his hands and circled around.

Oswald stood up, still hunched over, and stumbled forward. He yelled to Gordon's back, "Just trust me!"

The anger rose up in Jim once more. He stalked aggressively towards Cobblepot until the man's back was against the wall. This time Gordon's finger was poking into Oswald's chest and their noses were touching.

"Trust you!? When the very thing you are suggesting is lying and going behind the backs of others!"

For the first time since their conversation began, Oswald spoke calmly, "James. Trust me."

A silence clouded them and the only sound that could be heard was the panting and breathing of the two men.

Suddenly, Oswald and Gordon became very aware of the amount of space between them. They both knew the consequences of backing away or coming closer. Yet neither could seem to move. They stood in the silence for a few minutes, breathing in each other and attempting to stand his own ground.

Gordon suddenly lunged forward, capturing Oswald's mouth with his own. He pulled away slowly, lingering there for a moment longer. It was a short chaste kiss but it was enough to surprise them both.

Gordon pulled away completely, mumbled something incoherently, and rushed back inside.

Oswald let out an exasperated sigh and was breathless, his hand came up to touch his lips where Gordon's own had just been.

Oswald Cobblepot was once again left cold and alone by James Gordon.
