This is my first try at writing a Remus/Tonks fan fic, so be nice to me. This is set in the middle of the seventh Harry Potter book. It's somewhat meaningless, but I enjoyed writing it.-Fern Elywind
The World's Tears
A small bundle was curled on a rock. If you were to go closer, you would see that it was a woman. Her hair was long and dark, and her face was in her hands. Although it might not look it, this was Nymphadora Tonks. She was much less colorful without her pink hair, instead donning dark, long hair. Something was troubling her.
Thunder echoed loudly, followed by the first drops of rain. Tonks lifted her head. A raindrop met her cheek, mingling with the saltwater streaks already there. She turned her head down, feeling as if the whole world was mourning the death of her father.
Suddenly, an arm lay across her shoulders. "What's up, Dora?" a familiar voice whispered near her ear. Tonks looked up into the face of her husband, Remus Lupin.
"You know what's wrong!" Tonks snapped. "Where have you been, in a hole?" Remus smiled. "It's not funny!" Tonks yelled, pushing at him.
"I know. You're just so cute when you're angry." Tonks pushed him again, but with less force. "I'm sorry," Remus whispered to her hair. "Ted shouldn't have died." Tonks' only reply was to sob harder.
"Remus?" Tonks asked when she had cried herself out.
"Yes, my love?" Remus stroked her hair.
"Don't you ever leave me here alone. If you die, I'll find you and kill you again."
Remus smiled, but it was forced. "I won't," he murmured. "I promise." Wrapping Tonks in his arms, he planted his lips firmly on hers, holding her like they would never touch again. "Come on," he said. "Let's get inside." As they walked, Tonks' hair slowly began to return to pink.
