So, this is a bit of a plot bunny who was jumping around in my head for a while. So I decided to give him a chance to shine, and - here it is. It's only a small one-shot, but I hope it will be interesting.

March 5th - 2010

The wind is nice. I can feel its touch. It's warm – way warmer than it should've been in March. So I can't help it, but lean back, and soak the sunlight. I still feel sleepy, but it's fine. The deed is done.

"The wind feels so nice… This is my first time experiencing spring. But this season will eventually pass."

Aigis… We have come through so much together. It's strange that the only person not to know my secret is her. I guess it's not too late to tell?

"That it will, Aigis, that it will. But once the spring is over, summer will come. For you at least."

Aigis looked at me. I could feel her puzzled expression.

"Are you not going to meet summer together with us?"

"No Aigis. You know, I can feel it. Maybe that is what makes me feel so tired."

"You can feel what?"

I took a deep breath. Telling it to others was hard. Telling it to Aigis will be doubly so.

"The end of the line. For me. You did read how I miraculously survived the plane crash in my file, did you?"

Aigis nodded. Although it seemed that she was still puzzled by my words.

"I died during that crash. But then… when I was between life and death, waiting to be sorted… I was given a choice. To come back, if only for a year."

March 5th - 2009

I could see it. The line of people. Going forward. Some of them were crying. Some of them were angry. Some were resigned to their fate.

All were dead. So was I. And it wasn't long before it was my turn to move on.

But then I saw two butterflies. One blue, landed on my shoulder. Another, black, flew around erratically. Then I heard a voice.

"We can still give you a choice. Whether you want to move on, or whether you can return."

The voice who said that was calm, kind. The one you trust right away.

Why me?

"Because your role in the coming events is crucial. Your dying now will result in a calamity"

The voice who said that was angry, hateful. It was the voice trusting which would be hard.

Calamity? Sounds ridiculous. Then again I'm on a line straight into the next life.

"That you are." "We are giving you a chance to live your life. Do not squander it."

And of course you are doing this out of goodness in your heart.

"Unfortunately, no. Our intentions are far from selfless." "If you fail, it will spell the end of us too. It is the only reason we are going through with it."

Then the voices boomed with unison.

"And remember. You will have only one year! After that… The reaper will get his due."

March 5th - 2010

"So I chose life. It took me some time to realize what they meant. After all, even beings like them can't hold of death forever."

Aigis looked shocked.

"And you lived all this time… knowing that no matter what you do, you will still die in the end?"

I smiled. After all, the safety of my friends is more important.

"I did. And now, I guess this is it?"

"Heeeeyyy!"

I recognized the voice. They remembered. But…

I was so tired. I tried my best to move, to meet the eyes of my friends.

But before I could, my eyes started to close. The year was over. And the reaper has come to get his due.

So, I guess... That's it. As I said before, it is small. Hope you enjoyed it.
