7 year old Zuko just finished slopping wet glue onto the piece of think paper, then slabbed some more glitter and another cutout onto it, then admired it. He smiled. It was the best thing he'd ever made.
He placed the artwork into his robe pocket and ran out the door, and down the hallway to the garden. There he saw Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee playing around, doing cartwheels and other stupid girl things.
Zuko looked around, not seeing his mother. "Azula! Where's mom?" he called out to her sister.
She shrugged. "I don't know." she said in her usual cunning voice that he hated so much. "Maybe in the throne room with dad?"
Zuko narrowed his eyes and turned around, heading towards the throne room. Not there.
The prince gave a puff and walked down the hall, to the library. Zuko would often find his mother reading historical novels. Sometimes, she would sit him down on her lap, and read him a story about a historical battle between Fire Lord Sozin and the two evil dragons. \
He opened the large doors that entered into the library, and there was his mother, sitting in a chair, her nose in a book. Instantly, when she heard the noise of the large doors open, she placed her book down. Her smiled brightened instantly as she saw her son. "Zuko!" she exclaimed, opening up her arms for him to climb into.
"Hi mom!" he greeted, as he sat in her lap.
"How have you been?" she asked.
He shrugged. "Okay I guess." He reached into his robe pocket and pulled out the paper. He placed it into her hands. "Happy Mother's Day, mom." he smiled.
Ursa opened up the glitterfied card, her smile getting bigger by the moment. She swallowed her son up into her arms, squeezing him in a hug. They giggled. "Aw, thank you, Zuko. I love it." That just made the prince smile even more.
"I love you, Mom."
"I love you too, Zuko." she said, lightly kissing the top of his head.
Ugh, I hate this so much, but I wanted to do a Mother's Day story, and Zuko and Urse were the only characters that came to my mind.
Tell me what you think, and happy Mother's Day!
