"What are you doing today?"
"W-well, I-I'm cleaning for Mr. Austria, and then-"
"Come on a date with me!"
"E-eh?"
The young maid of the Austria-Hungarian household blinked at the other, surprised at the outburst. The other child's face was set in a scowl, blue eyes hinting at embarrassment and apprehension, a blush painted on his cheeks, fists clenched at his side.
"A-a date? You mean like go get some? I'll add it to the shopping list-"
"Not a date like food! I-I mean.."
The boy sighed, trying to gather up courage to explain what he meant to the other, clueless member of the house.
"I-I mean go on a walk with me, and out to lunch."
"Eeh, but Mr. Austria will get mad at me and I won't be fed!"
The young girl (Presumably) had her hands on her face, worried about the prospect to the point she was nearly crying.
"N-no, it's okay, it's my house too! You're doing errands for me, okay?"
"...O-Okay."
The girl sniffled, following the boy out as he strolled out of the house, barely suppressing a grin, and at the same time barely suppressing the deep-rooted anxiety settling in him.
"Wh-Where would you like to go?"
The girl blinked, looking around outside, then smiling and taking his hand, running to a nearby cafe.
"Let's get some food!"
Food, huh? She liked food? That was good, thought the boy, smiling slightly, his face a bright red.
"Order whatever you'd like, I'll pay for it!"
He smiled proudly, watching his companion's face light up as she at once tried ordering at least seven different things, in smaller portions, of course. He himself didn't eat that much, but watched in amazement. She was cute even while eating! Whatever she did was adorable!
"...S-so, wh-what do you want to do next?"
The boy was embarrassed by his stuttering, but the girl didn't seem to notice. If she did, she didn't dwell on it.
"Can we take a walk by the lake?"
"S-sure! That sounds nice!"
Her face lit up, and he could feel his own lighting up with it.
"Whatever you'd like!"
The two finished lunch leisurely, talking about random things they liked, about their household, the people in it, and life in general, before paying the waiter and leaving to walk along the lake.
"Isn't this nice?"
"Y-yeah, it is.."
The boy was blushing, nervous in his companionship of the girl with him. He found himself staring at her hand, so open, so inviting. Would she mind? He wanted to hold it so badly.
Shyly, he reached out and grasped her hand, eyes hidden behind bangs, face red.
"Hm? Let's swing arms! Good idea!"
He blinked as the girl swung their arms, humming, and found himself swinging his own arm in rhythm, smiling, listening to her voice silently.
"Y-you sing really well.."
"Eh? O-oh, r-really? Thank you!"
Her face had a blush on it, pleasantly surprised and a bit embarrassed, as she began to sing an old folk song from her home country, the boy with her listening, smiling, the two walking along the lake in the sunshine.
After the walk, the two headed home, stopping outside the door to the girl's room.
"Thank you for lunch and the walk, Holy Roman Empire! That was fun!"
The boy, HRE, blushed and nodded, a small smile on his face.
"A-any time, Chibitalia."
Chibitalia smiled widely and kissed his cheek before running off to finish the cleaning she had to do, leaving the surprised, embarrassed, and yet completely happy boy in her wake.
